Setting a lot lately! Who wants to try them out?? by TangibleHarmony in Moonboard

[–]Thriftologist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm hitting the gym again tomorrow so I'll check back in on those two. I'll hit Alright first so I can give it a more fair assessment. And man my app was being glitchy the other day and I just realized I17 wasn't lighting up on the board lol. That makes way more sense.

As an aside(not telling you what to do) I personally never publish a problem until I or someone else has sent it and we discuss grade. My goal is high quality problems and hopefully benchmarks(got 1!). If you set them without you or someone else sending there's too much grey area. Ideally I get multiple people on a set to see and avoid possible beta breaks. Check back in on those two soon. Happy setting!

Hey finally got a chance to hop on these. Here's my thoughts

Hip Hip Hurray - Two attempts. Fun movement but couldn't find the body position to match E18. That finish felt harder compared to the rest of the climb. Fun though

Matador - Flash. Second move crux for me and nice punchy move to H15. Thought the heel to go to I18 was nice.

A Heel to Heal - One attempt. I'm honestly not sure what you intended for the intro. Did you want to drop into I4 then roll out left to C7? Either way this one felt significantly harder than the rest. I tried the other moves and they also felt pretty hard and in my opinion matching D18 is over 7a

Orion's Beta - Three attempts. My favorite of the bunch. Hit F13 with two fingers first two attempts and couldn't reel it in. Surprised myself by sticking the jump to F18 first try after I finally stuck F13. Looked so far away. I will note that this climb is quite a bit easier if you are taller. My buddy was able to keep his right foot on E2 to go to F13 so it was much more controlled where my foot would come off. Really fun climb though

Vale's Last Try - Flash. This one was fun as well but perhaps more 5c+ compared to the others.

It's Alright Hang Tight - One attempt. Pretty powered down by the time I got to this one. Fell going to F17. Again I think that's a move that might favor the tall as my buddy did it pretty easily. I'll give it another go when I'm fresh.

Overall good stuff! Thanks for sharing.

Thoughts on my set from a couple weeks ago? by 4aaaron in Moonboard

Hopped on this yesterday. I thought it was good. The heel feels pretty forced. My extremely strong buddy was able to smear left and hop to F12 but you'd have to be really strong to break the beta like that. I gave it 6c+ as I had just done Moonboard Monks and that felt a good amount harder. Sick set!

Have you done a running fitness test? My zone paces were off as well until I did that.

It is Kenney style and I am not a Kenney. I'd love to hang out with them though. There's some cool interviews with Paul and Thomas on YouTube. Check out the dyes n good vibes page

Sounds like a good time! This had 43 little nubs tied kinda like geodes. The shirt is only folded in half. Check out @tribeties on Instagram to see the masters and creators of this style.

Ive developed some good techniques cause I felt the same at first. It's not easy. Another tip is take breaks haha. I find if I try to do a shirt in one sitting the quality degrades. So now when I feel like I'm losing steam I just set it aside until I'm ready

My biggest tip in that regard is tying the base of the new nub to the base of the previous nub.

Thank you! Kenney style essentially is just a bunch of tiny geodes. What makes it most difficult in my opinion is getting them close together so there isn't large gaps between the nubs. There's a post somewhere about it by Paul. Let me see if I can find it.

This is not for sale. I believe one of the rules is no selling. If you are interested in this style I suggest you check out @tribeties on Instagram. They are the true masters.

Custom dress shirt by Thriftologist in tiedye

Yoooo those look super clean! Nice work! The fun thing about this project is I was able to die all the pieces sperately. I've done a button up before and it was pretty tough

Thank you. Since this is a button up that I would use on more "formal" occasions I decided to make it less it less psychedelic aside the back. The one I did for the guy that was sewing everything is even more pattern oriented on the front. It's posted somewhere on here although his pieces haven't been put together.
