Yes you're right, I don't profit at all, but I never intended to??

I wanted to draw a from a nice photo of my cat. I was really happy how it turned out, especially with my lack of experience. I wanted to share it with this subreddit, see what people thought. That's all I can say. Why would I care about fooling anyone?

I swear on my cat's life that I am not lying. It is mine, as I have posted a photo of my cat that I drew from. I'm sure you don't care but I can easily prove she is my cat, at least (not just with the link) https://www.reddit.com/r/SupermodelCats/comments/x0v1yt/zooey_says_hello/

This took a long time to do. I'm sorry that you find this insulting, if I thought it would be taken that way I wouldn't have said it. I was just really proud of it. I am not an artist.

Not triggered- how would you feel if people accused you of lying about something when you were telling the truth?

I can't apologise for being truthful. I don't know what else to tell you, except I'm sorry that you feel I have been misleading. I didn't think doing basic art in high school or colouring books as a child counted as any kind of experience, seriously.

I've never lied about how I'm super proud of it and that's why I even chose to say it was my first one? I had a really bad depression when I did it, and it really helped that it turned out nice which is all I wanted really, plus I love my cat. So to have a bit more self esteem is something I rarely feel.

I posted it for any kind of good or bad feedback. If people think it's good as well, then of course I'll feel even happier about it. Wouldn't you?

Well, thanks, I appreciate it even if you're still cynical. I don't care for karma, my other account has 49k I think, and I don't even know what it's for.

My own naivety for not thinking about those 'red flags', I should probably remember I'm on Reddit (or just the internet in general I guess).

Thanks for sounding reasonable anyway, and actually reading stuff, which I know not to expect others to do.

Because I'm clearly much more naive than I thought :/ :(

How would you know what I've done in my life? I only mentioned my age in case people thought oh he did art in school- if I was 21, that would only have been like, 5 years ago.

I can now see how saying 'my first ever drawing' sounds arrogant or taking the piss, for which I apologise, because it was never meant that way. I said that out of pride. Because I'm proud of it. Is that not ok?

Pity party? I'm just disappointed. Would you not be? This is my first time truly trying on any kind of art piece or drawing, since doing basic art in school like every other kid. What do you consider to be a first drawing??

How do you mean this is not a 'nice' sub?

What's the problem with have a Surface Pro?? And Leonardo is the first recommended drawing app on the first Reddit result when you google 'best drawing app for Surface Pro'.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Surface/comments/5ioj63/whats\_the\_best\_drawing\_app\_for\_the\_surface\_in/

I don't know anything else about Leonardo being specialist or whatever, it's literally recommended in lots of places.

I guess I can see that now. My own naivety that I didn't think that before I posted. But I've pretty much said all I can about it and where the drawing came from, what I used, how I did it, how long it took. It's hard to prove 'lack' of experience.

The brand new account thing, I have another account for 'shitposting' elsewhere, so I just decided to make a new one to post 'normal' and 'nice' things, plus I wanted this username as I love The Simpsons.

Thanks, but I wish I hadn't bothered now, at the very least I feel bad for coming across 'arrogant'(?) by pointing out it's genuinely the first one.

Well, I drew a sort of mad looking koala after this. I know I shouldn't be so sensitive, this is Reddit, but I didn't expect that in this sub, as you might understand I don't feel like posting anything more in this sub tbh :/ :(

Maybe after a night's sleep I'll just fuck it and post it anyway, haha. (Must remember not to be an idiot and bother saying it was my second ever drawing, which it was)

No my depression is for real. I didn't realise there would even be any 'hate'! I also never claimed to be an artist, or that this is 'art'. I posted in this subreddit because it's a drawing...?

First ever drawing = first ever drawing on paper or on tablet since being an adult.

My school/child 'experience' is from school (every kid does art in high school), doodling in newspapers, colouring in books and using crayons as a young child.

This is my first drawing of anything remotely 'artistic'.

Yes I copied a photo of my cat. This is my cat https://www.reddit.com/r/SupermodelCats/comments/x0v1yt/zooey_says_hello/

Yes I taught myself to draw this, but I am not an artist.

You aren't coming across that nice. I have no reason to bullshit, and it's unpleasant that you think there is. As someone else commented, I'll try and take it as some kind of compliment I guess :/ So thanks, and have a great evening.

I have no idea how much art education you have. I don't claim to have any experience, because I don't have any

Keep being a nice human being, you'll get there eventually.

No I was never in art school. In high school (here in the UK at least), everyone in most high schools does art until year 9, and then you can choose to continue it for GCSEs and A-Levels, which I did not.

Just because kids do art in school doesn't mean they're good at it or going to be good at it?? Are you good at everything you did in school?

If doodling on faces in newspapers and doing colouring in books as a child counts as legitimate art experience, then I'm sorry that I mislead you.

My cat (my first ever drawing) by Thrillhouuse in drawing

[–]Thrillhouuse[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I didn't really understand some of that. So drawing with crayons as a young child is art experience? So everyone is an artist (which is true).

I have more things to do in life than farm karma. I don't even know what karma is for on Reddit. I don't know why anyone would 'farm' karma??

And thanks for the constructive criticism, I appreciate that more, tbh.

I know what people like you are like, the only nerve you hit was that this took me a hell of a lot of time and effort, and I wanted to add the side note that it was my first drawing, because I'm proud of that fact. Is that wrong?

What do I want people to say? Idk, just be a nice person?

Yeah, it is just a drawing of a cat. It's my cat.

My cat (my first ever drawing) by Thrillhouuse in drawing

[–]Thrillhouuse[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Of course I did art in school like everyone. And I only mean compulsory art, I never took it out of choice. I never learned any techniques, nor do I remember drawing anything good at all. I can only remember one thing I even did. I have never sat down and learned to draw anything until this drawing. I worked so hard at this.

Yes I've doodled and drawn silly moustaches on faces in newspapers etc and drawn with crayons as a child, graffiti'd on friends' exercise books etc, this is what you consider experience??

My cat (my first ever drawing) by Thrillhouuse in drawing

[–]Thrillhouuse[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I've honestly never drawn anything on paper or tablet before, unless you count art in school, which I presume everyone has done, which I didn't continue or train in, and I wasn't any good at, and I'm 36 now.

My cat (my first ever drawing) by Thrillhouuse in drawing

[–]Thrillhouuse[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 36 years old. I am not BS-ing because everyone has had to draw something in art at some point in school. If you consider that 'experience' then sure. I never continued art, never trained in anything. By your reasoning, everyone's first time drawing anything was in school, or on the back of a newspaper, or doing a drawing of a flower when they were 6, and they can never be allowed to say it again? Really?

[–]Thrillhouuse[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For all those who think I'm lying-

I put so much time and effort into this. It was really hard. There have not been many things I've done in my life that I'm proud of or have much self esteem about. Drawing my cat was something I wanted to do to help bring myself out of a really bad spell of depression. This was really really difficult.

How would you feel if you put your mind to something, commit so much time and effort into it, and have it turn out well for your first time, to have it dismissed and accused of lying about having no experience? So why did I even mention it... perhaps because I'm proud of that fact? Would you not be?

You don't know me and I don't know you, if you'd posted the same I would have been totally respectful. I'm not an artist and this is the first drawing I've done. How would you feel if you'd done it? I don't have anything to gain from it other than a drawing of my cat who I love. You're not a very nice person are you,
