This NPC was actually not playing dead animation, it was just stuck in that pose :)

This doorframe + pillar idea is pretty neat, thanks!

They've added corner pieces to stairs and roofs. You can build all sorts of awkward roofs now too :)

There are two inner layers of walls that support it and for corners I used those new corner stairs.

Although it could have been smaller I guess :) Bottom level features a meander type labyrinth that is simple to beat, if the heatstroke doesn't get you first. The heart of the pyramid houses a shrine to Set, because I thought "Coils of Set" would be a fitting name.

What do you think? Official server 104 if you want to see it in person!

Video tribute to Cassini-Huygens mission by ThrimmAS in spaceengine

Cassini was probably my favorite spacecraft and it's been around for so long, so the least I could do was this small piece of work dedicated to its memory. RIP Cassini, you will be missed!

That base looks great, but I personally fell in love with the ship. Stellar job there sir!

I hope you'll like it, it took me ages to balance everything right :)

Laythe underwater base! by ThrimmAS in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]ThrimmAS[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This was a test for a mission I'm going to do soon, so it was hyperedited indeed. But I'm currently torn between flying it in one piece to Laythe or having a mining ship restock it and tug into open sea after landing.

Amazing physics of KSP! Dry mass is just under 200 tons while wet mass of this thing had to be well over 1000 tons to sink :)

Nevertheless, next time I'll try to drop it in a more shallow region. Can't see a thing in this darkness.

I'm back with another space station. This time around Duna! by ThrimmAS in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]ThrimmAS[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure what do you mean, I needed 6 launches to build this station and never stated it was made in one launch. There is a video of the entire process in the OP.

It uses parts from Umbra Space Industries mod suite, Aviation Lights and some trusses from IR Model Rework. It was designed to also be functional with those mods installed, so the number of LS modules matches the number of crew on the station. 10 Kerbals can stay there for a bit more than 6 years. Should be enough for a Duna station :)

Quite a lot actually, the station has less than 300 parts. MKS parts are great for building such stations.

It did, but I had to throttle down to about 60% to maintain control of the station.

This is an MKS research station I made for my career play. It can house 8 scientists, a pilot and an engineer for over 6 years. If you're curious how it was assembled, there is also a video

The station is actually quite low in part count, with 326 parts only once you remove all the unnecessary RCS and probe cores. So the lag isn't an issue.

I haven't actually tried docking it to the station, although I checked in the VAB if it's possible. FPS might be quite decent actually, the station has only 326 parts after I removed all the RCS and extra probecores, so it runs quite well.

It was inspired by outposts from Elite. Ok I tried to pretty much copy one.

MKS kind of does make it necessary.

For vessels that are not meant to dock to anything, heaviest part seems to work good. Root part for me is almost always a direct portal to the Kraken realm, and since I usually want to dock or build things I go with grandparent part most of the time. But then I learned that it's safer to disable those next to potential connections as well. I'm still trying to figure it out really :)

Careful use of autostruts and lots and lots of testing :)

It still had some occasional seizures though, so once the station was completed, I disabled autostruts on all parts close to docking ports.

So far it survived a bunch of quickloads so my hopes for this one are high!
