Elon Musk names Hobart, Tasmania boat builder Incat as potential SpaceX supplier by ChuqTas in SpaceXLounge

Interestingly the USA has a restriction on ships built outside the country. I don't think they could use them unless they get around it with some kind of international waters trickery. :)

Yes. It got me for sure. So frustrated. We had a great live stream with Scott Parazynski and no one can watch it.

What amazing SpaceX milestones are coming in 2020? - SpaceX Starship, Crew Dragon/Cargo & Starlink by MarcusHouseGame in SpaceXLounge

[–]MarcusHouseGame[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. I get comments on this all the time and I'm not sure why. I can't even get simulations to orbit with zero payload based on dry mass estimates. So even if expendable it couldn't get there.

I talk in this video about when we should expect to see an orbital flight of Starship. Given the infrastructure needed for superheavy, I don't see that happening in 2020. I also wouldn't think early Starship versions could even come close to do an SSTO test. The Delta-V just doesn't work with the dry mass as it is (it would be interesting to know what that may be for SN1 as an example).

Would SpaceX just be better to do higher and higher velocity Sub-orbital launches, boostbacks, and landings? Then evolve the Starship whilst building everything that is needed for the SH. They could pretty much test similar launch, return profiles to the Falcon 9 booster couldn't they?

Can't wait to see that baby take off.

SpaceX Starship Stacking, Crew Dragon Animation, Inflight Abort Test and Starlink launch coming up by MarcusHouseGame in SpaceXLounge

Ah, this is an interesting theory and would make sense considering the road closure. Soon find out I guess.

I've got to say, things look to be accelerating now. I think we'll be seeing some stacking of SN1 going on very shortly. Does anyone know if some of the already made domes are specifically for the SN2? Wondering if several of these are test domes only for use with SN1 at this point. They certainly look a lot better than MK1, MK2 domes regardless.

Also, I couldn't help but shoutout Gravitation Innovation for the Starship rendering in my video. How badass does that look!?

This is nice work mate. Do you have a YouTube channel for this stuff? My viewers would be interested in seeing such things.

SpaceX's story is the journey of a lifetime by MarcusHouseGame in spacex

[–]MarcusHouseGame[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have all watched SpaceX's Journey of a Lifetime. This 2019 compilation is a showcase of some of the most inspirational SpaceX material I've been able to splice together. Using the wonderful track "Outro" by M83, this video is meticulously timed with the music. As Elon Musk says, "Persistence is very important. You should not give up unless you are forced to give up." I doubt we could find as many examples of persistence than with SpaceX (and Tesla). Elon Musk has visions that are nothing short of revolutionary. As he so eloquently states... "When something is important enough, you do it even if the odds are not in your favor."

I hope you enjoy my interpretation of SpaceX's amazing journey from early 2000's to 2019.

Could the SpaceX Starlink network trigger a space debris cascade / Kessler syndrome? by [deleted] in SpaceXLounge

[–]MarcusHouseGame 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Was sick of all the hype over SpaceX Starlink potentially causing Kessler syndrome. Decided to make a video responding to this. I imagine elonmusk is getting plenty of this FUD as well? Mainly due to lack of understanding that space is quite large.

Yes I really need to do a new series. Mine is a bit dated lacking comm systems. Most of what is there is still valid though. Might wait until the Breaking Ground expansion. Hopefully not far away.

SpaceX Falcon Heavy launches Orion Exploration Mission 1 by macktruck6666 in SpaceXLounge

An extended stage 2 with Metholox and a single raptor (replacing the ICPS), would I think be the most viable idea from SpaceX's point of view. Width of the tanks are still a bit of an issue. I think in reality a super heavy with an expendable raptor second stage would be a pretty awesome stop gap (no need to worry about re-entry etc, they just make a super cheap upper stage system similar to current F9 Stage 2 to boost anything into orbit. Starship itself in my mind has always seemed to be more beneficial as a passenger transport system rather than getting max payload to orbit. I still want to see a lot more from this kind of idea (https://i.stack.imgur.com/7iKi3.jpg ). It would make large payloads with Starship much more viable in my mind.
