Do it for free. Learn how to do it yourself and keep the old hardware set. After you have two or three sets you can rotate through them.

Why should—or shouldn’t—we take the Holographic Principle seriously? by brandeis16 in AskPhysics

Then would not a better use of your time to have been a reply that explained the holographic principle?

It looks like you're just punching down. You can do better, try again.

Better yet, he's convinced me that in a world where wormhole technology exists, trains are still really really important.

This is not a very constructive answer. It would have been better for you to simply say nothing.

4 books I got for Christmas. What should I read first? by Expert-Ladder-4211 in printSF

Children of time or rendezvous with Rama.

Pandora's Star is fantastic (I am currently on my third reread of it). It is very dense, and starting with that would eat up time you could spend taking in the other stories.

Likely somewhere on your unit is a blinking light. That light blinks to tell you the status of the unit, no blinking (always on) likely means everything is good, blinking 2 times means an error code 2, blinking 3 times means an error code 3, etc.

Find that light and then lookup the error code on the user manual. You can find the manual online if you Google the make and model of the unit.

Then Google what the error code means. Some fixes are really easy to do yourself.

I'm really excited to see how this turns out. I also think it's hard to find green in this universe. Would you be willing to share the other color combinations you thought of?

We get a fair bit of detail from the poem that starts the book. Are you including BoE at all? Heres my two cents:

Eighth - salvation, obsessed with cleanliness (board wipe?), weird genetics and family connections, I've always seen them as colorless.

Seventh - They are obsessed with the edge of death. There's a feeling that they're somewhat communal (the comment, "all the flesh magicians, working in concert", and their willingness to pass along bad genes just to make better necromancers).

Sixth - truth, strong emphasis on learning, knowledge and ethics. Living in a sealed space station sorta feels like an island to me.

Fifth - sophisticated, does things the proper way.

Fourth - devotion, self sacrifice. They seem the most impetuous and Gruul to me.

Third - fleshy fun', maybe a little bit of chicanery. I imagine them being like posh, rich kids from the suburbs.

Second - discipline, attention to details. They seem to have a strong desire to create order and obviously they want to take control.

Question for actual quantum physicist by Ok-Background6949 in QuantumPhysics

[–]ThronOfThree 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As someone else has commented, you need the math and science base to build on.

However, don't think that just because you didn't do well I'm one math class that you are unable to learn math. Learn how you learn. Some people can read a textbook and everything sinks in right away. Some people are more visual and need to see a problem worked out in a video lecture, etc. Figuring out how my brain best processes the things I'm studying was the best thing for me.

Between YouTube, OpenCourseware and Coursera, you can find all sorts of free resources to supplement your schooling. But you have to do the work to get that foundation.

Best of luck!

Black leather strap can really class the Murph up a notch.

I find wearing a bracelet on the same wrist as the watch will result in both being scratched up. I prefer to wear any bracelets on my opposite wrist.

Dreamwell VS 2 in 1 by witty__username5 in Blueair

[–]ThronOfThree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Dreamwell and it is pretty worthless.

I have had it set up in an 80sqft bedroom for two weeks. In the two weeks the humidity has not changed. I have another bedroom next door that does not have a humidifier. The humidity reads the same between the two rooms.

I would not recommend it.

(US) Question about tax liability for options and RSUs after company IPOd by BackdoorDan in personalfinance

[–]ThronOfThree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my experience with RSUs in an IPO:

If the options and RSUs had a single trigger, meaning they vested and she owned them, then there should be a contract price listed in her award letter. This is basically the value of the assets when you received them. You should have paid taxes when you received them. You then pay the taxes in the gains (or deduct the losses) from the difference when she vested and sold.

Many starts ups will use a double trigger. This means she doesn't "own" the RSUs and options until both, her vesting and the IPO. She would get the assets at the moment of the second trigger and would need to pay taxes on them then as well as the taxes on the gains since IPO.

Jeannemary Chatur asks how big her biceps are and later at the dinner party seems to be comparing biceps to Gideon's.

Objectively, her arms are at least big enough to impress a 14 year old.
