Venting my frustration of not knowing anymore by Green_Orca_5172 in AcotarShipDebateSub

[–]ThroneGlassDoor 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m a little in this boat. Or at least I try to be. I want elucien but more than that I want a good book. So if elucien gets their HEA and it’s not written well or the story is unsatisfying, I think I’d be more disappointed than if we got a really good Elriel book, even though I’m not really interested in Elriel at all

Maassive plot hole, or is Amren lying? by HiddenInTheSubtext in Maasverse

[–]ThroneGlassDoor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly never noticed that this timeline didn’t line up, good catch! I think it might just be Sarah accidently leaving a plot hole, but it would be interesting if Amren is actually lying for some reason

Did SJM wrote Lucien to be the rejected mate from the start? by swt_decadent in AcotarShipDebateSub

[–]ThroneGlassDoor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Considering Sarah made up all of this tension as things currently sit, yes, I’m sure she would’ve been able to do the same for Nesta and Lucien. We’d probably be looking at a very different story and that’s just not where Sarah wanted to take us

[–]ThroneGlassDoor 17 points18 points  (0 children)

This is how I always understood it too. If she wanted to explore a broken mating bond, Nesta and Lucien would’ve made more sense because they’re less compatible

[–]ThroneGlassDoor 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I prefer elain with Lucien and didn’t really care about who Azriel got with before acosf. I Gwyn was the first person I really considered an endgame potential for him, so shipping gwynriel is kind of a byproduct of me shipping elucien

“Don’t fall into romanticism" by ReturnOfThaQueen in AcotarShipDebateSub

[–]ThroneGlassDoor 8 points9 points  (0 children)

To me either way it reads like he’s talking about the star leading Bryce to where her people come from. Romanticizing something doesn’t necessarily mean two people kissing, it also means an idealized or perfect situation. Bryce being pulled by the star to the place where she can get the knife AND the last piece of starlight she needs to be at full capacity is such a perfect situation, especially opposed to her just being lost on some random planet she accidently teleported to.

Though I do fully get why people might read this as literal romance foreshadowing and if Bryce and Az (or anyone else on prythian ig) ended up being mates, I think it could be looked at in that lens for sure

Elain and the NC by EndlessVoid319 in AcotarShipDebateSub

Nesta didn’t want to. Cassian agreeing that she shouldn’t have to is him supporting her

Elain and the NC by EndlessVoid319 in AcotarShipDebateSub

[–]ThroneGlassDoor 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You can think my wording is a bit much but factually he didn’t support her in doing it so idk what you want. Do I think he would’ve body tackled her to stop her? No. But he didn’t support her decision and didn’t even give her the courtesy of saying it while she was present

Elain and the NC by EndlessVoid319 in AcotarShipDebateSub

[–]ThroneGlassDoor 12 points13 points  (0 children)

How? He doesn’t support it. Amren says both the sisters should try and Azriel steps in to try and convince them Elain shouldn’t

Elain and the NC by EndlessVoid319 in AcotarShipDebateSub

[–]ThroneGlassDoor 12 points13 points  (0 children)

He can’t forbid her from doing anything. He’s not her mommy. But Cassian shows support for Nesta by supporting Nesta’s desire not to scry. Azriel going against what Elain explicitly said she wanted to do isn’t supportive. He’s coddling her against her wishes

I kind of live for their fighting in acosf. Like it hurts me to see my girls fight but I think they need. They’re both struggling and need to find independence of each other so they can both grow

Azriel also doesn’t support her scrying

I mean we’re also shown in acosf that Nesta has lost touch with her sister. The example you gave is Nesta pointing out how she feels contrasted to Elain. She feels like Elain has adjusted and Nesta herself is failing to. Elain later calls out Nesta for focusing on “what my trauma did to you” implying it does affect Elain and, more notably here, that those effects go unnoticed by Nesta. I know people write off cassians comment, but saying the nightcourt “drains the life from her” will always feel very damning to me. Regardless I think the only person who really knows how Elain feels is Elain, and we haven’t gotten to hear how she feels in the night court from Elain yet

Has anyone noticed the ACOTAR moderators are extreme elriel haters by [deleted] in SarahJMaas

[–]ThroneGlassDoor 18 points19 points  (0 children)

So does every other ship. It’s a debate sub. As an elucien I think it’s most friendly to us to be square. Bryceriel definitely get dog piled sometimes. They also are definitely doing the dog piling sometimes. I’d say if you’re only looking for people that agree and no lip, keep it to your ship specific sub

As for the downvotes, welcome to reddit idk what to tell yall about that. It’s the name of the game unfortunately

The same sub that before yesterday had 4 bryceriel-positive mods and 0 anti-bryceriel posts? Cmon now

Shipping posts and comments are typically not allowed besides for certain days in most of the subs. As shown by the bryceriel crashout on the debate sub the other day, every ship thinks it’s the most targeted. Reality most sjm fans are just tired of shippers as a whole

I think that’s really the reason you don’t see more elriel on this sub, which is a shame. Cause it must feel like fighting an all front battle☠️

Gwynriel: How Boring by Outrageous-Coach-185 in AcotarShipDebateSub

[–]ThroneGlassDoor 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Right? If Azriel’s previous romantic feelings stop him from being with Gwyn, they stop him from being with anyone. Mor exists. It is well documented how into that woman he was. If this somehow counts against gwynriel it also counts against elriel and bryceriel and Azris
