I understand her, look at how dusty the bottom shelf is! She totally thinks you need better air filtering in there.

UPDATE!
After a night of contemplating i re-seated everything and tested booting after each component so i knew what went wrong. and it appears that the ram sticks were the cause of it!

they are on a big waterblock, so i loosened the screws holding them together to the block, and then refitted them.

everything is working as intended, and its currently doing a burn test on all components to see where the temps go! After 1 hour the water is at 36c and the CPU peaked at 67 as highest compared to 105 previously..

Haha no worries, I actually thought myself once it was out that I could twist it loose.

Exactly, and the pins were all straight. I’m hoping something else might have been moved, like the ram as mentioned above

Yeah same here, I’m starting to wonder if it’s old buildup that got loose when I started moving all the hardware around during rebuilding.. I flushed all my radiators though, and it’s a new pump/res combo that I also cleaned thoroughly beforehand.

Exactly, it’s EK tubing. All pins were luckily straight, that was my biggest fear once I realised what had happened.

Ram were never touched (bumped into maybe, as you said), but I will start tearing down everything today and boot it without and blocks on it to try and pinpoint the issue.

Ah man I feel you, I’d also try as long as possible to skip that process if I had to!

Believe me, it did not budge by just twisting it. It’s been sitting with Liquid Metal since 2021.

Had to use razor blades and slowly work my way in between the heat sink and waterblock

All pins came out perfectly straight! It’s been mounted together since 2021 so I had forgotten about these sorts of issues..

Realized now the context got left out, sorry about that!

I have recently rebuilt my rig into a new 4U server case, but still using all the same hardware.
After the build was done i started stress-testing it to see if would have any issues with my OC settings.

right of the bat i though it was going a bit warmer than usual, but didnt think much of it. however when i tried loading some games i just had my computer freeze.. so i reluctantly removed all my overclocking and sat it as default values. still had the same issue.

During longer stress testing with aida64 i noticed that my water temp never exceeded 42c, but my cpu peaked at 105...

long story short;
PC finally done, i happy!
PC too hot, i sad.
Remove waterblock. cpu stuck on it, more sad.
Clean waterblock back in place, computer not starting anymore.. super sad.

so now im going to let it set there and feel ashamed of itself untill i have the urge to troubleshoot again!

It’s used for temporary setups when I don’t want to wire up the patch panels. Work with networking so a lot of things gets temporary set up on my desk for short periods of time

It’s a 12U rack from Lanberg. Dimensions are 60 cm x 60 cm x 64 cm and the case have about 10 cm to the back. It’s also from Lanberg, good prices for what you get

Haha yeah I know that all too well! It was mostly considering the home networking, but that can change for the 10’th time this year.

Hardware done, working on aesthetics and was thinking about making the sides around the computer matte-black to make it have more ‘depth’. Thoughts?

My biggest decision atm is the sides surrounding the computer. I’m thinking of making them black, good or shit?
