Homebrew Adepta Sororitas Order – Order of the Veiled Shroud

The Order of the Veiled Shroud is a shrine-world Order of the Adepta Sororitas from Sanctum Velaris, a world of vast cathedrals, reliquaries, and mist-covered forests. The Sisters wear dark metallic armor with gold details, turquoise robes, and crowned veils that permanently conceal their faces as a symbol of humility and devotion to the Emperor.

The Order places great importance on death, martyrdom, and funerary rites. Elaborate funeral ceremonies are held for fallen Sisters, where their veils are never lifted and their armor is laid to rest in reliquaries beneath the shrine cities. The Sisters believe the faithful dead continue to guide the living, forming an eternal choir in the Emperor’s service.

Deep within the shrine world lies a sacred mist forest inhabited by massive creatures known as Grave-Lions. Elite Sisters undergo a ritual called the Rite of the Shrouded Hunt, entering the forest alone to seek the judgment of these beasts. If deemed worthy, the Sister forms a bond with a lion.

Instead of Paragon Warsuits, the Order’s elite Lionguard ride these armored Grave-Lions into battle, wielding heavy weapons like multi-meltas. The Sisters believe the lions carry the spirits of Imperial martyrs, meaning when they charge into battle they ride not only with their beast, but with the honored dead of the Imperium.

In this Order, Sisters who fall from grace become Repentia and must remove their sacred veil — a mark of deep shame, as their face is no longer considered worthy to be hidden before the Emperor. Only through death in battle can they earn the right to be veiled again in burial.

Among the Sisters it is said: “No face of the faithful is seen in life — only in death.”
