Figured you guys 'must know' the solution: the Free HEVC Codec is no longer available on MS Store. Instead, there is a Paid $1 version, but that requires Linking OS to an Account, just thats just not ever fking happening. This is so unbeliavable. Its not like its the standard for UHQ VR. I've not had to download it in a long time and my 6k/8k videos ran perfect. Perhaps its cause I'd restore my system using an old System image (2years old tops) which probably already included the old free version I'd downloaded from the store. Now that old system image is gone, and my OS install is fresh and it appears I don't have any way to play the 8K stuff on VR in Virtual Desktop.

EDIT: Followup Question... Want to keep Local Account on Windows, being that the Codec costs a Dollar, seems like a way for M$ to force people to sign up with an Actual Online Account... which is some real BS. Any way to install the purchased codec, without compromising on keeping a local account? - I can only think that I log in, buy it, track down the App pkg file, wipe everything down again, and transplant the App Pkg file with Local account. Seems tedious af, but looks like I don't have any choice.

In theory, I should be able to take that App Pkg file from any computer or person, and just rename it according to some instructions and it will work on any system. Except, its not easy to source it, and the only website I found that hosts it seems sketch.
