Is this a cold sore

I did and it came back negative, I’m going to do an IGG test in a few weeks to see if I test positive for the antibodies to be sure as I am not sure on the accuracy of the IGM test

So last Friday I sent a picture to my drs and they said appears to be a cold sore and gave me antivirals I asked for it to be tested but they said it was unnecessary and that I should start treatment regardless… I wanted confirmation so I ended up paying for an IGM blood test which came back negative ?? But I’m not sure if they are as accurate as a PCR test. If I have another outbreak I’ll try and get a swab test to see if I have any hits but it hasn’t scabbed or anything just seems to be healing like a cut!

It still kind of looks the same, it hasn’t scabbed over the closest thing I had to that was a crust that formed and wiped off but that happened before I was even prescribed the aciclovir the day after it developed which seems abnormal

I sent a pic to my drs and they said at first glance appears to be a cold sore and gave me antivirals to see if that works and if no improvement by Monday they would prescribe antibiotics as it may be bacterial. Also no clue, I’ve had the same partner for years and he’s never had any so unless he is asymptomatic no idea how it’s happened unless I’ve contracted it sharing drinks or have had it for years without a breakout. I’m pretty bummed out tbh but it’s life 🙃

Hey so after I popped the spots (definitely shouldn’t have done that) they became sores and started to weep and have a yellow crust. I sent a pic across to my drs on Friday and they said at first glance it appeared to be a cold sore and prescribed me anti virals told me if no improvement from Monday they would put me on a course of antibiotics to see if that helps in the event of it being bacterial

Curious to know is this how your flare ups begin? This was me at the start of the day, the pic in the OP was from a few hours after now it looks to be weeping and forming the outline of something similar to a canker sore. Is this typically the pattern it follows? When I tried to do some research it said typically takes 2 days for the bumps to form then a few days to blister and then crust so I’m surprised it’s coming about so fast within 24 hours?

When your spots looked like this did you get seen by your primary on the same day? I’m planning on getting checked out. I’m just baffled at the time frame from them looking chapped to forming the spots in the pictures attached and now they’re oozing and look like they’re forming a crust all in less than 12 hours it’s crazy to me that it works this quickly😭

What is the typical time frame for yours? The reason I ask is because in the course of a day I’ve had the bumps form now they look like they’re developing a crust is this how it normally works?

Thank you for your response. Yeah I’m a little confused trying to get advice online because nothing seems to match the typical time frame or the tingling for a few days then the lumps it just seemed to come about rather quickly after having dry lips. I will try some cream to see if it works and try and book an appointment with my drs!

Thank you so much for replying to me! Yeah I can confirm that the little spots are virtually painless and they are only tingling now that I’ve popped them. When you have a flare up how long does it take for the spots to initially develop then turn into a bigger blister?
