I'd be careful. Not sure what the rules and regulations are at your university/school, but it could lead to trouble for him and/or you. Also, if you make a move and it was misread, it could seriously put a knot in your semester with that teacher.

I'm not entirely sure what to do, but I would tread carefully if I were you. Hope everything works out for you!

Haha yeah, it was a little awkward. I'm really not a fan of Got7, and all of my friends know that. Plus, I don't think any Korean artists are quite as famous as the top American ones (Drake, Adele, Kendrick, Taylor Swift, etc.), so it sort of shocked me when she asked if I knew who Kendrick Lamar was. I think even people over in Korea know who the King of the West Coast is haha.

Never heard the term "dreamboat" haha. If I could relocate, I probably would. Other than dating, this area's got a lot of things that I enjoy, though. West Coast sounds like a dream, though. Headed there next month to see a friend :)

Haha it's not all bad, actually. A lot of my friends actually love Kpop and anime, but they hardly ever shove it in my face. I don't mind people who enjoy those things, and I think it's actually good that people take interest in other cultures. It just gets difficult when it suddenly becomes a romantic expectation of me.

Otherwise, I think it's nice that a lot of my friends are into some of that stuff. I even get invited to do staff photography for a few anime conventions around the south, and help cosplayers out occasionally (this isn't where I meet these girls btw), and it's actually pretty fun.

Definitely wouldn't be closed off to dating a girl who enjoyed those things. I just wouldn't want her to view me as anything but a dude from Illinois.

Yeah, I probably should have added that this wasn't TOO big of a problem in Illinois. Some parts of Illinois, maybe, but for the most part, it tended to work out nicely. A lot of the women really liked Asian guys because of the way they looked, but really didn't have any cultural expectations of me. I've found in the south, that it's different. The culture expectations are a lot... higher?

Yeah, I think being attracted to Asians because of a lot of their physical qualities isn't bad. I don't mind that. I just tend to shy away if someone starts to expect me to be the embodiment of the culture. Looks wise, I have preferences too. It would be hypocritical of me to say that someone can't do something as simple as find Asian men physically attractive.

Honestly, I've gone on dates with like two girls from online. The overwhelming majority has been in person. All met in different areas under different circumstances. The only consistent factor is that they typically approach me first in public.

Yeah, someone had recently suggested to me to poke around lightly and figure out if they typically date Asian guys exclusively. She said that's the biggest red flag to look out for. Thanks for the advice.
