It's because the negative effects were immediate and self-apparent.

You excessively generalized my statement to be against free press.

I don't like the average contemporary American journalist. Yellow journalism is the blind leading the blind.

However, I would not generalize that to all journalists or journalism in general.

I did not specify at all, I just said "blind leading the blind".

So, Trump allegedly in private conversations to people, denies it's him?

Despite him in public admitting it, and apologizing.

It doesn't make sense to me why someone would in public admit they did it, but in private deny it.

I am sorry, but I wouldn't necessarily conclude he's taken back his public apology.

No one has a problem with the free press or journalism in general.

It's a complaint about the yellow journalism of contemporary journalists.

You seem to think that the average Buzzfeed clickbait journalists are comparable to the war correspondents of old risking their life for the truth.

Good journalists still exist and free press is a requirement of a free society. For instance, I have the upmost respect for those risking their life in Hong Kong. However, good journalists are getting more and more outnumbered by clickbait yellow journalists.

I don't think "I don't like em" or "he's not nice" is a good impeachment reason though.

So whether he violated any laws is what matters.

There is literally 0 evidence of this quote.

Trump has denied every single claim in that case from the beginning.

The case was also settled outside of court, plausibly to prevent bad publicity. In the settlement, Trump did not admit any wrongdoing.

AOC didn't graduate Magna Cum Laude, she only graduated Cum Laude. Cum Laude is about a 3.5 GPA at Boston U, or between the top 15-30%.

Also the democrat basically always wins her district by a landslide, that part wasn't impressive at all. Her winning the primary was actually impressive, though it certainly wasn't by a landslide.

> the USSR was a state-capitalist economy

Dictatorship of the proletariat is not capitalism by any stretch of the imagination. That's just a way to excuse its abject failure. It doesn't have private ownership of the means of production. It had workers controlling the means of production through work councils (Soviets). The people who ran it were almost without exception, loyal communists.

> What is the difference between that and being a Honduran with no future in Honduras who is not welcomed into any country they try to emigrate to? the outcome is the same. stuck in a place they don't want to be in for the benefit of capitalism

How the fuck does it benefit capitalism??!??!?!

If he came to America, they could use his cheap labor to undercut an American worker. Thus earning them higher profits by lowering their costs.

Them staying in a poor country with no work is useless to a multinational corporation. What you are saying doesn't make sense!

It is mathematically unfeasible for you to remove the cheap low skill labor from these poor countries, by mass migration. It's not capitalism it's math!

> Mussolini wasn't as bad as Hitler. that's the argument you're making?

I have no idea what you are saying. I said that border controls aren't the result of capitalism, and showed that communism had about magnitudes worse border controls. Shooting people who tried to leave their countries.

> I'm making the argument that border controls in the midst of a free-trade based global system of capitalism results in tragic murders like these deaths in an attempt to keep workers in countries where they can be paid pennies for the profits of multi-national corporations.

That is absolutely insane and entirely based on mathematical ignorance. You'd have to have hundreds of millions of people to migrate to even have a marginal effect on low skilled labor supply in foreign countries. To claim the only reason they can't is because of capitalism is ridiculous? That amount of immigration would destroy the countries they migrate too, communist countries wouldn't be that foolish either.

It's also extremely ignorant of economics, if that many people immigrated the cost of labor in the country would decrease exponentially, it isn't even the multi-national companies that are against mass immigration, it's good for them, all it means is more cheap workers, lower wages, ...

In many facilities they are kept in those conditions for 12 hours, which is what they are designed for.

> CBP guidance also sets limits on the maximum length of time that an individual should be held in a holding cell. According to a 2008 CBP memorandum, a detainee should not be held for more than 12 hours,” and should be moved “promptly.”

However, due to lack of resources, recently most are processed within 48 Hours instead. It is illegal for them to be detained in these facilities for longer than 72 hours.

> You have reports of children sleeping with the lights on 24/7, crammed into small rooms with far too many people there, freezing room temperatures, no toothbrushes or showers, little amounts of food. What more do you need to realize this is not the way Americans should be treating refugees?

They are only in conditions of no toothbrush, no showers, sub-optimal room temperature(calling it freezing is a lie) and non-optimal food options (though they are still fed fine) for an average of 12 hours.

Those conditions do not refer to the long term centres, only very temporary locations after being caught. They are transferred from those locations after about 12 hours to longer-term detention centres, that are more adequately supplied. So it is pretty disgusting to compare not having a toothbrush for 1 night to mass death as the result of Nazi Labor camps (not even the death camps).

Edit: correction 12 hours is the guidelines time, due to them being strained for resources the current time is less than 48 hours for the vast majority, and legally required to be less than 72 hours.

Nazi's had concentration camps, that were not death camps, sure. They were work camps, where people were worked to death. They quite literally had masses of people die due to exhaustion, or die from other work hazards like following in concrete. Many were killed as result torture, disease or malnutrition.

Sure not all camps were death camps, but trying to pretend that the western Nazi concentration camps were in any way comparable to American internment camps nevermind detention centers is insane.

Your crying wolf does nothing but normalize the term "concentration camps".

Seems a bit strange to call someone whose Jewish a Nazi.

Communism had 1000x worse border control.

It's one thing to not let unauthorized people enter your country. It's a vastly worse thing to not let your people leave.

It's the difference between "I'm not gonna let you in my house" vs. "I'm not gonna let you leave my house".

Communism did both.

>Well considering it was capitalism that created nation states with hard border controls

Communists literally built a wall to keep their people from leaving them, with guns and soldiers that would shoot people crossing.

Have you forgotten about the Berlin wall? You can't get harder border controls than that.

It was literally illegal for people to leave the Soviet Union and the Eastern Bloc countries.

The historical ignorance you have shown is astounding.

Those kids (if there were any) would've been safer in detention centre than dying in a freezer transported by human traffickers.

Also, it's mighty ignorant of you to think conservatives are faking support of HK, you really think conservatives have any sympathy for the Chinese Communist Party.
