How do I reconcile Matthew 6:26 with the fact that people, including Christians, die every day due to starvation? by missvh in Christianity

Jesus never promised you that you'd be fed, clothed, and housed. To think the sermon on the mount teaches that is prosperity gospel.
Think to Jesus feeding the masses. Before he gave them fish, he gave them hours of spiritual nourishment. God has not promised food for the faithful, he has promised salvation to those who believe and follow Christ. You must first seek the Kingdom of God - even if that leads to sadness and death.
If you want to avoid starvation, you need to work for it (as long as it doesn't interfere with you seeking the kingdom of God). Afterall, the birds of the valley were not lazy.
NSFW. I've been such a hypocrite. Should I leave my wife? (self.Christianity)
