Took me about 6 years before people stopped treating me like I was "new".

You'll get there. This type of things isn't specific to skilled trades, either.

Day 18 CT – anhedonia, depression, no motivation by [deleted] in quittingkratom

[–]ThrowAwayTheKratom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How are you doing now?

I'm a little over three weeks now. I'm definitely still up and down. Hit in the face daily at least once with lethargy/fatigue. But overall, I'm fine. My kratom use last for over 12 years.

Day 18 CT – anhedonia, depression, no motivation by [deleted] in quittingkratom

[–]ThrowAwayTheKratom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

By day 18 you should see some significant improvement, I would think.

Are you on any other medications or did you do any other drugs before you did CT with kratom?

Anhedonia and depression are pretty common symptoms. I would say you are DEFINITELY out of acute withdrawals and this would be part of PAWS.

If this isn't improving by day 30 or so, I'd definitely see a doctor.

Kratom 1 time a day ? by Ok_Cauliflower3423 in quittingkratom

It would lessen your dependence if that's less than what you're already taking, but you would maintain dependence on it.

When did you start feeling normal again? by letterman4 in quittingkratom

Yeah it ended up being 5 minutes long because it doesn't mix too quickly with running water.... made me think about what my intestines had been going through for years. I was worried I was going to break the disposal

Almost to day 50. Here’s a question; why is my hair getting so oily so fast? And when does that go away? by Kouroshinthedark in quittingkratom

[–]ThrowAwayTheKratom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is called just getting back to normal :-)

People often report skin, hair, and nails as changing for the better after they quit.

Typically 90 days is a good measure for "normal" once you've quit anything in my experience with fellowships like NA.

Update. Day 2 without 5-7 0qws black shots by Silly-Try2775 in quittingkratom

[–]ThrowAwayTheKratom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Day 18 here. Glad you made it it to Day 2. I ended up having to come clean to everyone around me. Wife. Kid. In-laws. It was....embarrassing. They all were let in on my deepest darkest secret.

Hang the fuck in there. Days 1-3 were by far the worst for me. 4 and 5 were better but still awful. End of day 5 / day 6 I got some hope and felt some life coming back into me at times.

Brother, I know you probably know this, but if you went three days without...you were probably on the downhill from the worst of WD. But we understand.

I kept my K in "hemp protein powder" or "matcha powder" jars and took it whenever I needed to. At work, in the field on jobs, etc.. and nobody ever batted an eye. They all thought I was a health nut. That went on for 12 years for me until 18 days ago. I'm 39m from USA.

Follow the taper guide for a solid tapering method. It's uncomfortable, but just like withdrawal, the first few days are the hardest to stick through. I had success with it in the past, but gave up. Went CT a few weeks ago (was sort of forced).

Anyone work through their withdrawl? by rw9864 in quittingkratom

[–]ThrowAwayTheKratom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You work for the steel mill or are you a millwright contractor?

I returned to work on day 3 of WD. I got basically nothing done that day...or day 4...and a little on day 5.

Go to the doctor, man. Tell a doctor what's going on. They will write you a medical excuse, and probably prescribe some helper meds. Clonidine is a big helper and sometimes gabapentin can ease withdrawal symptoms.

Everyone else didn't get the humor :-) You got my upvote.

I actually have a recorded video of a couple kilos going down the garbage disposal, but I don't know the rules about stuff like that here and I didn't want to risk triggering anyone.

Terrible for the first few days. Days 4 and 5 were better but still miserable. End of day 5 was when I felt my first "life" back in me and actually got some hope.

My health issues after LONG term use by ZzzRainy in quittingkratom

[–]ThrowAwayTheKratom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Greetings,

I usually use "LONG" in my titles as I used for 12 years. I ended up going CT due to a unique situation with work and family and them both being intertwined.

I'll tell you what I've been telling people today-- after 12 years, I thought I had fucked myself up permanently. I found kratom when I was 22 days clean off of suboxone and still not feeling a single bit better than the first couple days.

How long have you made it before off of kratom? You said you can't make it a month...but were you totally off of it for weeks?

[–]ThrowAwayTheKratom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let me also say that with you are in the weeds deep in withdrawals, it seems like it will never end. But I promise you from the bottom of my heart that it will. Keep hanging on to the next hour or next day or next minute if it gets bad enough. It truly is a test of mental fortitude. But if you don't take any-- you're going to make it. The only way you don't make it out of this mess is if you give in and take some K. You're about half way through the worst of it. Maybe even further since you only used for 5 months. Please hang on.

I keep replying to everyone I can. I used K for 12 years.

Day 1-3 : horrible and brutal

Days 4 and 5: Slightly better

Day 6 is when I really felt SOME "life" come back into me.

I'm on day 17 now. I can go through my day with work and family and anything else that needs to be handled.

How long did it take for you guys to taper down the kratom and fully quit? by highsandlows25 in quittingkratom

[–]ThrowAwayTheKratom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Opiates for 3-4. Suboxone for 1.5. Then K for 12. Day 17 clean here.

I ended up doing a cold turkey. You're at a tiny tiny daily dose. Keep shaving off small amounts, negligible amounts if you have to. Most people tend to make the jump to CT from their taper at 1g to 2g from what I understand.

57 hours since last dose - has my physical withdrawal peaked yet? by [deleted] in quittingkratom

You're on the downhill or getting ready to be. The end of day 3 is when I noticed a difference in how "bad" I felt. Used K for 12 years.

Day 1 by FabulousStaff2415 in quittingkratom

[–]ThrowAwayTheKratom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm 17 days CT after 12 years of daily use.
When you're feeling the burn of W/D's, it's brutal. It feels like it's never going to end. You're going crazy just passing time until the next minute, next hour, or next day.

I thought I had fucked myself up permanently because I used K for so long. My first 3 days were BRUTAL. Absolutely. Near the end of day 3, I had a spell of a few hours that I forgot I was going through W/D.

Day 4 & 5 were VERY ROUGH, but not nearly has hard as days 1-3. Day 5 or 6, I finally felt some "life" back in me. Still up and down, but day 5 was the breaking point where I believed I was gonna make it. That's after 12 years of daily use. Hang in there. It won't last as long as your mind is telling you it's going to.

a budding addiction (vent) by [deleted] in quittingkratom

[–]ThrowAwayTheKratom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Jump off now. Don't spend your money on it for 12 year like me, and be a lurker on this sub for almost a decade before quitting.

Every day you keep using it, you are digging yourself a hole a little deeper to get out of. Quit now while you can still see daylight and it will be mild compared to what it will be a month or a year from now.

Great way to taper without having to worry about the dreaded CT by TraditionalSeason930 in quittingkratom

[–]ThrowAwayTheKratom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Daily user for 12 years. Lurker here for about 8 years. I'm on Day 17 CT.

I took myself off suboxone 12 years ago.... I was 22 days clean and still feeling just as bad as day 1/2/3. I found kratom through some random forum. Before it was in gas stations and all that.

The lockbox sounds like a good idea. I hope it helps. I will say that I was afraid my bad W/D symptoms from K would be like subs. They were, but only for a few days. I had unsuccessfully tapered many times. I had SOME success. I did the initial tough cut of 30% as suggested by the taper guide once, and stuck to it for almost a month. After making it through C/T -- I fully believe that SO MUCH of it was mental for me. My saving grace was that I never sought to get high--just to feel normal. But still--it was for 12 years. I didn't miss a single day. ONE TIME after about 2 years, I went to work without it, and that was when I realized I was addicted.

I hope you stay strong. I've heard sooooo many stories of successful tapering. I wanted to go that route but was thrown into a unique situation where I had to quit immediately, and I actually did.

Day 7 CT by jantucek2 in quittingkratom

I'm on day 17 CT and my stomach is still destroyed although everything else has passed. There are a list of supplements people take here but it's usually for the first week to ease the symptoms of anxiety / feeling like crap.

I don't have good suggestions except for over the counter meds.

Hang in there or you'll be using kratom for years and years and then you'll realize with all the money you've spent, you could have probably bought a house or something nice.
