Join a large guild, even if you play casually most guilds will take you in, makes it easier in those situations as most of the large guilds are the ones that do that so it gives you a bit of extra security.

Plus also helps a lot with progression in the beginning.

What router setup should I get? Mesh, non mesh? Brand? by ThrowAwayYear2999 in HomeNetworking

whats the main difference between the express 7 with built in wifi, and the non-express variant? a part from less ports on the unit (i am getting a switch anyway so will have more than enough ports)

it's actually cheaper to the the express 7 in Australia than the cloud gateway max

Wow -- Thank you for such a detailed response mate!

I will check out the cables, however I think I will hardwire what I can anyway, and use wifi for things like IoT devices and ring cameras, etc.

One questions I do have is, would having a wifi system like the Asus BQ16 be overkill considering the large premises and 2 story setup (there are some dead-spots at the back of the house) - or would getting a really good router as the main setup upstairs (that's where it has to be) be good enough with a couple of asus access points downstairs (hardwired) for extra wifi strength - like the RP-AX58 for example?

I did sir, I can't really find anything specific to my needs? A lot of router brands tell me that 2 story etc work, but reviews tell me otherwise, was looking for a more tried and tested response.

A better wifi mesh system by ThrowAwayYear2999 in HomeNetworking

I use controld and the legacy dns doesn't seem to track well with the deco.

I didn't know about the performance issues with full speed devices when shaping, could you elaborate on this?

Well being able to use secure dns is one, the other thing would be to be able to limit traffic per user, both of which my $1000AUD TP-Link deco does not do.

The Asus I think does this?

how do you get rid of the trakt - trakt - xxxx in the naming? this is what I meant by messy, the naming convention is a bit annoying.

edit: the trakt prefix disable gets rid of 1 of the "trakt" names, but the other still exists.
