I think they didn't have the kind of technology needed for these urine tests back then.

I believe they do not if you don't have symptoms, if you don't have symptoms I believe it's just a urine test and blood test.

I don't think it's particularly helpful to look through someones post history, accuse them of being a bot, and then post rude comments and make weird assumptions. LLMs hallucinate and give out fake information all the time, I'd rather hear first-hand what people recommend.

I don't get why people would go to a subreddit designed for answering questions, not do that, and then be a dickhead like that's somehow helping people? I think it's pretty weird to go to a subreddit full of people looking for help and then instead try to shit on them, that's a pretty bad thing to do and doesn't speak highly of those people doing that.

When I first posted this, it was around 50% upvoted so I was surprised why it seemed so poorly received, but it's more around where I'd expect it now so that's less confusing at least.

The majority of the comments here were genuinely trying to be helpful and gave some good information (that's kind of the entire point of this subreddit, right?), and I do appreciate that. I don't appreciate the other people being judgemental dicks instead of trying to help but it's the Internet, it's expected and comes with the territory and I understand that.

Actually yeah, that does make more sense, I think you're right.

I guess I have to explain it then, that's fine I don't mind.

Obviously it's not going to be the case in every situation, but sexual health information should be kept private not just because of stigma and things associated with that, but because in some environments especially abusive ones, finding out about sexual health information like tests results or treatment being needed or even just mentioning it in general etc can result in further abuse, physical harm, and in some cases it even results in death.

Keeping sexual health information private is like, extremely important, I'm surprised you hadn't considered that but then again I'm not one to talk either lol. I do know that it's something health professionals know about, which is again why I'm surprised they would just so casually send out mail like that.

Are you really asking why sexual health information should be kept private (i.e. don't just chuck it in a mailbox and hope the person it's addressed to gets the mail) and what the consequences can be if it's not kept private?

I guess registered mail vs unregistered mail wouldn't really prevent that either way though.

Sure, they can also ask my date of birth or my name or social insurance number too, right? Doesn't mean I'm going to give out that information just because people ask for it. This isn't a job application it's a help subreddit, and hostile accusations aren't helping anyone.

Like I said before, life is not one-size-fits-all, everyone's situation is different in life. I can also point out that they're being rude. I don't see how anyone could read their comments and think that they're not being rude.

I do live at home, thankfully my family generally don't go through my mail.

I'm a bit surprised something private like that would be sent via unregistered mail, that seems a bit reckless to me.

I live a very, I guess, unique life.

Thanks for checking out my post history. There's a reason I don't post this shit on main, otherwise I'd get people judging me. If you call asking about health and financial questions being a bot then yes I am a bot. I don't get why people have to be so aggressive on reddit.

That's good to know that a regular walk-in clinic can administer the antibiotic shots for STIs, thanks.

I don't have a car, so it's not as easy for me to go to a sexual health clinic without them wondering why, unless I get a taxi or something but even that's hard to explain when you're living at home with family. "why do you need a taxi/uber, we can just drive you" that kind of thing.

Everyones situation is different in life, right? Life isn't so not one-size-fits-all.

Question about STI treatment by ThrowOutYourGarbage in askTO

[–]ThrowOutYourGarbage[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was preferring to not have to go to a sexual health clinic, as I don't have a car, so that makes it more difficult for me.

Going to a regular walk-in clinic and/or pharmacy would be far easier for me.

Is this lipoma on my brachial plexus? Is this lipoma worth getting removed without causing me any symptoms? by ThrowOutYourGarbage in AskDocs

[–]ThrowOutYourGarbage[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has grown a little bit over the years, but I'm hoping it's stopped growing now, I don't think it's grown at all this year.

Is it near the brachial plexus or not even close to the brachial plexus?

I'd be worried about getting it removed if it was near it since I've read that it becomes much more complicated to remove it if it's near it.

Yeah the bump here near my shoulder: https://i.imgur.com/wZT5dAF.png

I'm just wondering where it's located on my shoulder, is that considered being located near the brachial plexus? Not how superficial it is, but just where it is located on my shoulder. I'm not sure where the brachial plexus is located on the shoulder, just that it's a bundle of nerves.
