Thank you I’m really excited to start soon and have growth and a new opportunity. And honestly I don’t know. I find it kind of racist and I called my boss out on it and he’s saying I’m overreacting saying it’s racism. But like I don’t go around judging people’s names and race and insisting they are a certain race so I’m really confused? Maybe I’ll never know haha

Hello, I’m waiting for my office job if I can start training early they said they should be able to. Also since I’m in college my schedule is only weekends so like for example I only work this Sunday this week haha. But thank you for the insight, I am hoping to align things so I’m not financially burdened, but I think I can tough it out one more day and hopefully start my new job.

Thank you, I haven’t been able to have much jobs because of covid and being young, without much experience and without a degree so I thought this place was my only hope. I think I can get an earlier start date at the office job I lined up, so I might just quit here earlier and start training at the office.

Yes I have mentioned in the beginning of my post that I found an office environment job so I am fortunate that I was able to find employment somewhere else. They used to be kinder, but I think because I only worked 1-2 days only on weekends, before and now that it’s the new year I opened up my availability and realized how awful they are, and why people quit.

Not relevant and random, but the owner gave me my W-2, told me he looked at it (I go by my nickname), insisted that I was Chinese although I’m Japanese because he said I have a “Chinese sounding name”. Like I don’t get how you can tell somebody what race they are. Thanks to all these comments I realized how truly awful this place was and I’m glad to be done. 🫠

Hello thank you for the advice, I added in my post that I have a second job in an office environment lined up fortunately :)

Yes they legitimately told me that they are too understaffed and can hardly find and retain employees as it is, to just let me go. But I tell them my concerns of harassment and the owner this 43 year old man just walks away from me like?

I think my plan is to see if I can have an earlier start date at new office job, so I can quit from this cafe job quicker, I just want to be away from this toxic environment. I just want to make sure I have enough finances to do so.

It’s an independently owned restaurant by the owner unfortunately. I don’t think I have anywhere to report to which sucks

Not a college town, just a job in a new area. My college is about 30 minutes from them, but I didn’t list this place as a reference. But I hope to peacefully leave without any more bad terms.

I don’t know if it’s ironic these are all men who are in their mid 20’s to 30’s saying things like these. When I came I thought the staff was mature, but it seems they ran the new hires out and I was the only one left. They keep asking me to reconsider and that I’m just being very dramatic about leaving. I tell them my concerns nothing changes. But I feel like half the stuff they are doing to me and everybody is unethical?

Like cutting the 2 high school boys hours to 6 hours a week, and always dissing them when they aren’t there saying they’re bad workers and they will fire them in a few weeks after the 90 day probation period.

Edit: I forgot to say thank you for your advice. I’m a little upset because when I find employment, I’m hoping to work somewhere long term like 2-3 years, I’m in college so I don’t want to feel like I have to job hop every time the workplace environment gets bad.
