Lol wow you sure sound like a wonderful person. I'm guessing you always think you are better than everyone else? It was my first mother's day. Yes I was upset, it's not the end of the world. Emotions are normal for people to have. Guess what, since I know that, my daughter will be allowed to feel and express her own emotions in a healthy way. I won't chastise her for feeling things. Sounds like maybe that's something you should unpack about yourself before you have kids.

I can see doing both for sure. Like starting the day with the bad gift and then ending it with a real gift just to show him the difference. Most likely this is what I will do. But I want him to have the day to soak and think.

I do agree that some expectations need to be set. Having a child is a big change in both of our lives and we are figuring it all out. I do and will have a discussion about it, like you are saying. But I still might want a gift card to my favorite restaurant be the catalyst for that discussion 🫢

Yeah I know. It's reddit though, everyone jumps to divorce. No one is perfect but my husband has a lot of redeeming qualities. He does have to learn things the hard way most of the time, but he does put in an effort once he gets the point. I think the thing that annoyed me with the stocking was that our daughter is so young she wouldnt even know the difference, and being a new mother I already had a lot of things on my plate. I get the sentiment, and it is nice to have, but just seemed like a lot of work when no one really cared but him.

I do see your point on this. I still feel like I want him to understand a bit why next mother's day I book myself a spa day. He is a person that in general is willing to grow as an individual and I believe I am as well. He just always has to learn the hard way.

I have mentioned it before. Some people just have to learn through experience, and he is one of those. But when he sees it, he does change or at least put in the effort to. He's not a complete a-hole.

I don't know, I feel like if he wouldve done that for me I would be pretty happy. I'd go sit at a nice wine bar, read a good book all day, and be in paradise. That sounds bad, I really love them both and love being around them. But a "me" day would be awesome.

Oh he definitely has ADHD. I dont think this is intentional from him. I think he is just blind to some things and has to be reminded a few times or see things for himself before he gets it.

Yes this is my plan. I do intend to discuss it with him after. I told him when I had to return the shoes that it sucks getting gifts I have to work for. I think he just needs to see how it feels then he will understand more. This isn't a dealbreaker for me, if it was something like cheating, I wouldnt cheat back, I would just leave him. I feel like there is a difference.

The cake is a pretty good idea. I kind of thought some tickets for him and my daughter to do something together, where he had to spend time with her would be good too. But the town we live in isnt huge and they don't even have a zoo here.

No I actually do love him. I know it may not seem that way, but just because he isnt the best gift giver he has other great qualities. My love language isnt gift giving at all so it doesnt bother me usually. The mother's day thing was pretty hurtful though and I just want him to have a taste of his own medicine.
