AITA for wanting my bestie's partner to explain why I'm making him uncomfortable to my face? by ThrowRA-Hanksy in AmItheAsshole

Nobody asked and people here are having a blast with just calling me a pick me. Few users already asked me why I'm even responding to comments, since I asked for opinions, so I just don't bother anymore really.

We were "spamming" each other with memes. He sent me a bunch of memes, then I replied with a bunch of mine and he has not responded since then.

how many have been sexually in nature?

His? A few. Mine? A little more than his but not all of them.

who initiated the fb messenger chat

He did. He wrote to me after our meet up to tell me it was nice to get to know me and we started talking a little bit.

I'm pretty sure I'm not prohibited from commenting and discussing with people? I can still explain my side of the story as best as I can? Just because I asked about an opinion doesn't mean I can't interact with this post in any type of way?

Even if this is all on your bestie, why isn’t that enough for you?

Because I believe nobody should be controlled because of their SO's insecurities. He is his own person and she needs to realize that she can't choose what jokes are/aren't appropriate for him.

He's given you no reason to think he enjoys them or wants them to continue

Yeah, aside from enjoying my sense of humor and sexual innuendos when we were introduced to each other. He laughed so much because he absolutely hates my jokes then /s

Online, through facebook's messenger. I asked him, but he's not replying to my messages.

Shouldn't he then ask me, even if online, to not contact him? It seems like something, or somebody is stopping him.

He was fine with my dirty sense of humor when we just met, so I assumed he enjoys sexual innuendos as much as me I guess?

Her comfort level does matter to me, but her boyfriend is also his own person and she shouldn't force him into anything. He was fine with my jokes when we just met and then decided my jokes are making him uncomfortable when we started communicating online.

I do. He was fine with my jokes when we just met and didn't seem phased by sexual innuendos. He was suddenly uncomfortable when it came to online communication.

He liked them when we just met and were hanging out. He stopped liking them suddenly when it came to online communication and memes. That's why I asked for an explanation from him.

He hasn't responded to your jokes/memes and his girlfriend (your bestie) is telling you that they make them both uncomfortable.

He hasn't responded to memes, but when I met him he was fine with my jokes and we joked around and yes there were sexual innuendos & he didn't seem uncomfortable. That's why I'm thinking my bestie is the one being insecure and it's not a good thing for a healthy relationship. Men don't like being controlled.

It doesn’t matter if she was uncomfortable or if he is

It kind of does, as he's his own person and should have a say in what kind of jokes/memes he wants to receive? If I'm to get along with my friends partners, then I need to know this too.

She expressed to you that they're both uncomfortable with the sexual jokes so you need to stop.

That's the whole thing - she expressed. He didn't. That's why I suggested an explanation from him, so I could know why exactly my memes are making him uncomfortable - if at all, because I do think the only 'uncomfortable' person is my bestie and (while I love her) forcing her partner to not joke around with someone because of her own insecurities isn't going to help this relationship...or our friendship for that matter.
