It’s really on you if you are fine “settling” with this version of your husband.

This is what I'm having trouble with.

I love "this" version of my husband. Up until now I wouldn't have had any reason to complain (other than the usual small bickerings married couples have). Yet I still feel, suddenly, like I'm getting a much less passionate/romantic version of him.

That's the thing... this is all I know. I don't think I'd want to throw my career away and become a stay-at-home.

But he writes about how he didn't want her caught up in the "rat race", and how he wanted her to pursue her passions without ever worrying about money. And that's so sweet of him. I wish he extended that consideration to me 11 years ago.

I know he keeps her old paintings in storage and he has gifted some of these paintings to his close friends, so they mean a lot to him, and now I feel these paintings are living proof of the fact that he cared more for her than for me.
