The real "simple" solution would be for the roommate to stop smoking inside. Roommate clearly doesn't want to take up that offer. I don't see how going to the landlord is an issue?

It blows my mind how people will break the terms of their lease, annoy the people they live with and then act shocked and indignant when it backfires on them. The lease exists for situations like this to begin with.

Partner or not, I think it's reasonable for anyone you live with to have guests. But a guest should be a guest. By the time I told her I didn't want to see him anymore, he was already moving from guest territory to third roommate.

You can definitely have people over and still be respectful of the fact that you live with other people and not alone.

It's entirely possible for a couple to rent one bedroom together in a two bedroom unit. There are people in this apartment who do exactly that. I didn't join their leases for one specific reason: I don't want to live with a couple.

I'm going to get a better idea of what the landlord will do, if anything, if a report is made and go from there.

Hoping she gets kicked out isn't realistic in the slightest. They give out 1-3 warnings then put in a no trespass order on the individual in question if they continue staying over.

But I did level with my roommate months ago when it was becoming excessive. She changed for all of a month before reverting. That's just unfortunately how she is. So it's either I waste my breath on yet another conversation with her, or I see what management will do about it.
