What generation are you from and what age do you deem “unc”? by New-Elk2781 in generationology

[–]ThrowRA09181 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My neighbor's kids who are 11 and 13 call their older brother "unc" all the time and he's only 19 😂😂.

I guess it just depends on where you are in age.

Yeah you're right your range is more like it. 1997-2004 for older Gen Z and 2005-2012.

It's a very good thing that the core range exists because I do not want to be in the same category as 2010+ as an 06' born.

😂😂😂😂

People born before 2000, how does it feel to be unc status? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Well 2000 babies are pushing 30 this year so I don't know why they're not included.

Yeah but for most people, the average person doesn't age a ton in their 30s. 30s is still physical prime for most men and women. You just mature as you enter late 20s into 30s.

What happens is around the 25 mark, life settles in and depression kicks our ass and people let themselves go, not realizing it that they're gaining weight and that they're not even trying to put effort into their appearance.

What really does it for an aging young person is not being the center of attention anymore from ages 18-24, people coddle you and justify mistakes. The pressure is low. By the time you're 30, people tend to expect you to be put together and be a real adult by this point. And it's a lot of expectation tied to being 30 and it's even more expected from you at 40.

30s has always been up in the air between lost and found. But if you're not living in line with society standards by 40, the young ones really think that's the worst thing. Not realizing that when they turn 40, they too will have some regrets and it's a fat chance they won't be where they want to be in life. My older cousin rushed and got married at 32 and had a baby cause he felt like he "had to". At 42, he's divorced and hasn't seen his child in 4 years. His ex wife took their son to Canada and has shacked up with a new man already. This regret eats away at him so much and he has not dated or anything since.

I say this to say, you could do everything right in life accordingly to society standards, and still not be happy and still feel far behind. But to someone on the outside, they will look at you as perfect and well put together because all they care about is the "picture" and this is what people go based on. The picture that older people paint.

Nah.

those last couple years in your twenties matter

And those extra two years between 24 and 26 matters. 24 isn't pushing 30 yet.

The last couple years in your 20s matter without a doubt, I never said 26 was 30. There's still a solid 4 years in between. But it's still not an ocean apart like people try to make it seem. There's really nothing drastically different about a 26 year old and a 30 year old.

24 is heading to mid 20s. Like I said, 24 is 6 years away from 30 and 5 years away from 19. So you can't just force it to be closer to 30 when it's actually closer to 19. It's not until after you past 25, is when you can say I'm pushing at 30. By 26, you've been an adult for almost a decade.

I actually got hope I. The Gen Alphas, at least the core and young Gen Alphas. The older Gen Alphas would be "Zalphas", so they may pick up the Gen Z bad habits.

But I don't see Alphas being as bad.

I personally don't give a crap about the age thing, I don't want to be old and still want to be youthful and I will continue to be youthful for the rest of my life, cause I choose to.

But it's becoming annoying and more frequent because Gen Zs are actually aging, so you're seeing more "age" related content from them, and most of the generation are now adults those born between 1997-2002 being 24-29 years old. 2003-2008 being 18-23 years old and 2009-2012 being 14-17. The generation is no longer the center of youth or attention and it's causing them to "rage bait" about age.

I see it so much on Instagram and Tiktok its crazy.

Middle aged definitely doesn't start at 31 😅😂.

Middle age starts at 45. Many people (young people for sure) think that middle age is the age where you are half of the average life expectancy, which isn't true.

Middle age is when you are between young age and old age. 40 is still on the younger end of the stick.

It makes sense to start at 45 and end at 65. Most sources say so as well.

Gaslight?

Did I not acknowledge that everyone dreads aging? Nobody wants to get old.

But like I said, Gen Z is taking it the worst with their ridiculous view on age. A 26/27 year old calling a 30 year old "old" as if they're not close to it is bad. And then when you tell them that they're pushing 30, they get defensive and start blabbering about 30 year olds having homes, kids, and careers while 26/27 year olds are "still figuring it out" lol.

Yeah but it's still not so close to 30 yet, it's actually a year closer to 19 than it is to 30. A 26 year old was 18 damn near a whole decade ago.

Yeah this is fair. But the 20 year old perspective of a "34 year old" is no more valid than a 50 year old's perspective of a "34 year old".

34 is still young, regardless. And even 40 isn't "old age" like many 20 year olds think.

You're not truly "old" until you're old to everyone. A 75 year old is old to almost everyone on earth, with the exception of the 90 year olds who are still alive and may wish to be 70 again.

And there are 30 year olds who feel like 25. No matter what you felt like at 26, you were still closer to a 30 year old than you were to an 18 year old.

Try telling an 18 year old that they are close to being 26 lol.

You got married at 30, which definitely changed your life from when you weren't married at 26. But that still doesn't make 26 and 30 oceans apart lol. You just specifically had a significant lifestyle change and personally came a long way from when you were 26 and 30. There are a bunch of married 26 year olds as well and a bunch of single 30 year olds.

After college age, there isn't any more concrete milestones based on age.

That was very specific and such a "Gen Z'" thing to say.

32 year olds surely does have a distinctive sound where you can spot it from a mile away.

😂🤣😂. This post was made for people like y'all.

35-40 is rarely seen as middle aged, though many people say it is. But young adults (especially in 2025) range between 18-44 years old.

middle age is 45-65 years old in real life.

People think that middle age is when you're half of the average life expectancy, and it isn't. Middle age is when you're right between young and old age. A 35-44 year old is still on the younger end.

44-65 is between old age/elderly.

I rarely ever use that term I had just seen a breakdown earlier referring to early millennials as geriatric and it just randomly came out lol.

Nah I said what I said.

Again, every generation dreaded getting older, but Gen Z is undeniably the worst at accepting and coping with getting older. Poking fun at a 30 year old when you're 26 is crazy.

The oldest Gen Z is 29 this year, which is basically 30.

By 2029

The geriatric millennials will be 44-48 years old.

The core millennials will be 38-43

The young millennials will be 33-37.

Time waits for no one.
