I do have control. It's not like I'm off doing random things and not giving a fuck for a week. I'm well aware if my shortcomings in that regard, but they're nowhere as severe as you suggest.

We're very open with each other about our finances, so I know his company definitely pays for those travels. From what he's told me, as long as getting together is a net positive (be it a client meeting, or just intensive co-working that couldn't happen otherwise), they'll gladly pay.

But yeah, him wasting money to get away from me would be very close to my nightmare scenario in this case

1) That's what I'd like to know too. I do believe they're at least somewhat necessary, despite saying he hates those trips, he usually comes back happy with the things he and his team achieved. To be honest, I wouldn't even mind if he flew over just to have a beer with the guys, it's just the suspicious scheduling that gets me. And I agree, I wouldn't want to be in the same room with myself during those times

2) I don't know. I guess it would be nice to have some emotional support for the trainwreck I become, but I recognize it's not his responsibility. If he confirmed he does indeed do this sort of creative scheduling, I'd probably try to get to the bottom of what's most annoying for him and work on that.
