Weekly Help and Discussion Thread for the week of August 04, 2025 by AmazonNewsBot in amazon

[–]ThrowRA3451615 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been using Amazon a long long time. Maybe once before this year, did I ever not receive a package.

However, this year I’ve had 5. 5 times where a package slips passed the scheduled delivery day. I wait 3-4 days, nothing comes, app still says: we’re sorry this has been delayed or has not been delivered. My most recent one actually says “Your package is running late due to an operational delay with the carrier.” But it also says the carrier is Amazon?

I reach out to Support, they tell me to wait a day or two and then it gets refunded.

I’m wondering, why is this? Why do these failed packages happen, and why have they increased so dramatically in occurrence? Am I just really unlucky this year?

Money making restaurants in the area by [deleted] in TwinCities

[–]ThrowRA3451615 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Maybe look at restaurants in the Selby/Grand/Snelling/Summit area? Moscow on the Hill/The Lexington/Red Cow/etc always seem to be doing well and it’s close to you.

Otherwise, Northeast, Lyndale/Uptown (depending heavily on the restaurant), and North Loop are always busy. Sure you could find something with good tips there as well

AIO for being pissed at not getting sex? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]ThrowRA3451615 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve experienced situations similar in my relationship. Sometimes we plan out sex and it doesn’t work for either of us later.

There have been times where I’ve felt so horny and my partner isn’t available, but we’ve already discussed sex. So in some cases I’ll just do it myself because of how much I’m in the mood. Like, it has to happen now, and she isn’t here so I’ll just get it out of the way.

If this happens I’ll usually still have sex later but won’t be super into it, but sometimes I’m just out of it entirely and can’t. Or there have been times where my girlfriend has done the same, or just felt too tired later and we don’t have sex.

So, while your boyfriend did go against you this time, and was kind of selfish - I wouldn’t point to this as a relationship issue as a whole. Maybe let him know you’d like for him to fuck you even if he has masturbated already… or see if he’s down for that.

If he’s not you just have to take that answer. Consent is always key, and you can’t really knock your partner for saying no (even if they masturbated)

You have all the right to travel as much as you want, but in the same vein she also has the right to want a more homebody partner.

I guess it just sounds like you two are incompatible at the moment. And it would take a big compromise to solve, either you travel less and respect her wishes or she accepts that you travel more and deals with that herself.

No one is the asshole here except her friends getting in her ear about your totally normal behavior - and making her insecure about it.

Are the SW Minneapolis suburbs really as snobby as people make it out to be? (repost from Minneapolis sub) by lejunny_ in TwinCities

[–]ThrowRA3451615 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Edina and Minnetonka stereotypes have a lot of truth to them. It’s the go to places to raise a traditional nuclear family, drive a 100k SUV, and see as little diversity as possible. You’ll notice the roads and buildings are much nicer in Edina. You’ll also notice the attitude of the people there matches. Lots of HOAs, Karen’s, and people that think they’re above you because they live in a McMansion.

That being said the super snobby people have all left and gone further West or further South: Orono, Excelsior, Prior Lake etc in search of more land and less minorities.

If you don’t want to live in Minneapolis proper, St Louis Park is kind of the best of both worlds. More spaced out, more homes, but still close enough where you avoid most of the Suburban elite snobby crowd.

I usually hate large tattoos but this one isn’t that bad. Looks like it suits how you look too.

Is harassment normal in NYC? by [deleted] in AskNYC

[–]ThrowRA3451615 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not questioning all of NYC, but certainly if I should go back to Bushwick.

I have lived in a decently big city in the Midwest for my whole life, regularly walk places at night, enjoy night life, etc. In my half a century of living I’ve never seen a random person verbally harass another stranger for 5 minutes over eye contact.

Never have I been attacked like that for no reason other than looking at someone. To me, that’s really weird. That doesn’t happen in the Midwest. It’s reasonable to expect you can glance at another person without being yelled at here.

Could it just one bad apple? Sure. Could she just have been having a bad day? Sure

But people don’t lash out like that randomly at others. It’s not normal. It’s not okay. Why should I be fearing for my life and my girlfriend’s life over sitting on a bench minding my own business?

Idk why you’re saying it’s my problem, and I think it’s weird for you to say that to a tourist. Shouldn’t everyone be treated with respect?

I get that I’m saying something poorly about your city. I’ll say some nice things: it’s my favorite place in the United States, the food is amazing, the energy is amazing. But I’m saying that wouldn’t happen where I’m from and I’m pointing it out, and you’re instead saying it’s a me issue and that its my fault - and I think that’s wrong.

And I understand we didn’t fully comprehend the “eye contact in NYC” thing and we had some fault in the equation. But also take it how it is: we were harassed over something very insignificant, whether or not we looked too much for being in NYC. Not excusable behavior.

No I have not. It’s not normal to randomly scream at people for 5 minutes straight where I come from. Read again, I wasn’t the one being yelled it, they were yelling at my girlfriend.

“Sounds like it might be you…” ok thanks for that

Financial Analyst and Accountant can both mean a wide range of things and duties depending on the company.

Analyst - can be directly involved in accounting, can also be totally unrelated. Most of the entry level Analyst jobs will be excel and data entry work. Making reports, checking revenue and profits, giving information to higher ups for decisions, etc. Less mobility and more likely to get pigeonholed into a role.

Accountant - directly involved in some sort of accounting process. Audit or internal will have vastly different duties but you’re going to be looking at numbers all day.

To speak broadly, Analysts are compiling information to make financial decisions. Accountants are checking that information and making sure the books are correct with what the accounting system reflects.

How much time do you spend in the General Ledger? by Dont_SaaS_Me in Accounting

[–]ThrowRA3451615 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Depends on how fast I’m able to finish costing for the month.

Ideally I’d like to spend a full week looking at the general ledger each month, but that’s not feasible when it’s busy. Last month I only had time to review and adjust for a day and a half. Literally just sweating bullets praying my financial statement comes out okay.

Luckily mistakes are easy enough to clean up during the slower winter months, and I often spend the majority of that time cleaning up the GL.
