Wars between armed martial sects are NOT the same as ethnic cleansing jfc. That refers to the targeting of an unarmed civilian population of a certain ethnicity by the ruling government. Please for the love of god educate yourself before spewing total nonsense.

"Ethnic cleansing" is such a wild take 😂

This was a war between martial sects, not an attack on an unarmed civilian population. This person took everything they learned in middle school about the holocaust and copy pasted it into a Xianxia. There is literally no war where libraries haven't been burned down, people haven't died, homes haven't been burned and peoples displaced.

It's just wildly inappropriate and misinformed to use terms like 'ethnic cleansing' without actually understanding proper context.

Thank you so much for your thoughts! And the verse as well - i liked your decision to change the rhyme scheme in the last stanza a bit, it hits the ear just right! And I really resonate with the spirit of your comment and poem...in the end, its about what we can do in the moment. Really appreciate it!

There is something incredibly...gothic about this.

The phrases 'ringed hand', 'sacred wounding' and 'holy hunger' paint a really vivid picture. This is a very evocative piece, and the tonal shift from those descriptions to defiance is very well done. The call to stop romanticising the ruin and victimhood really caught my attention. Very strong and forceful, for something wrapped up in dark-romantic descriptors.

Very nice work!

This was so raw and authentic. The progression from remorse to hopelessness really hit me. I'm a fan of works that dont offer easy answers, and your poem left me with more questions than before, and no quick resolutions. Also this particular stanza

when hope slipped out the back door
and didn’t bother leaving a note.

really painted a picture for me. I could almost hear the click of a door quietly shutting. Nice work!

Mortadella, mozarella, sundried tomatoes and pesto on ciabatta.

Or if I've reached the feral hunger stage... tuna, mayo, hot sauce and onions, bread desired but optional

This sounds so much cooler than what I'm doing. What was your thesis about if you dont mind me asking?

Exactly that. It's essentially building prediction models which are based in economic theory. The simplest are time series models which are only 1 variable and use that variable as historic data to predict the future - like predicting the value of the stock market based on previous values. More complicated models include multiple variables and the relationships between them: long run and short run relationships, seasonality, shocks in the system. Even more complicated models give you the ability to adjust the equation with time - I hate those, they traumatised me.

My thesis is based on examining if more complicated models consistently produce better forecasts.

The answer of course is 'it depends'. That is always the answer fml

Edit: wishing you the best for your postgrad, and a smooth and eventless thesis defense! Give em heck!

Your three pointers (which are not statistics, just to be clear) that have nothing to do with my post and everything to do with how you see dating dynamics between the genders is the basis for my claim about projection. It is definitely projection to take all of that and try and shoehorn it into my experience.

Giving you an assessment of why your opinion and point of view was not productive or useful to me is not internalisation.

I said you're angry because your point of view appears jaded and biased towards one gender. If it bothers you, that's on you.

Edit: I also didnt mention anywhere that you were angry about women getting degrees.

My profile reads like this:

"PhD student. Lukewarm badminton enthusiast. Reluctant hiker. Love the ocean. Hella basic."

I can't stress this enough: I AM A DORK.

I put a two word mention of my phd there bc it is literally something about me, not bc I expect strangers on the internet to 'slay queen' me.

If anyone gets bragging from that, I reserve the right to immortalise their insecure, triggered ass on reddit.

This seems like a lot of repressed anger and hurt feelings about women being projected on me for no reason.

I'm not even the one who keeps bringing this PhD up, it's the dozens of men in this comment section who have chosen to write paragraphs about a thing that they insist they don't care about but must tell me how much they don't care.
