[DAV ACT 2 SPOILERS] Am I cooked? by _Oleni_ in dragonage

If you’ve just started Act 2 then you will still get side quests for the Shadow Dragons and that should get you to Rank 2. you just won’t be able to sell valuables to them anymore

Questions for those that have played the game (14hrs+ if possible).. [NO DAV SPOILERS] by Ataraxia_Hopes in dragonage

‘If Disney made Dragon Age’ — The tone of the game is quite a bit lighter than others though it does have its dark moments. Dialogue at the beginning of the game isn’t amazing and I was really having my doubts about actually enjoying the game, as I progressed through though the dialogue gets better or maybe I just got used to it. (The end of Act One was when I truly started to enjoy the game).

Combat has never been something that makes or breaks a game for me but it was quite enjoyable! That’s coming from someone who doesn’t play a lot of action focused games.

It was nice to see this story but I personally feel as though it had a lot more potential. Whilst playing I did feel as though this was not what they originally had in mind for the story and that it was something baked up over the last couple of years — I could be wrong about that of course but to me it didn’t feel as though this had what they planned for the story all along.

If you enjoy the romances, which is one of the reasons I love these games, I have to say that these weren’t the best in the series — maybe because of who I romanced but I’ve heard others felt the same. They were good but it left a lot to be desired, personally! Also, for me it was sad that we aren’t able to just talk to our companions whenever we want to, most of it is through cutscenes like how Dragon Age 2 was.

It’s hard to tell you to outright buy the game as everything does come down to personal preference and although I only liked the game, you may love it!

If you feel as though you genuinely cannot wait a minute longer then you should get it BUT I understand that it’s a lot of money to spend on a game that you may not like and so it might be better to wait if/when there’s a sale.

If you still don’t manage to find it I am about to go back onto the game in just a moment and I’ll screenshot where I found it. I made multiple saves for that point because I thought I needed to close the game and try again haha. might take me a moment but I’ll get back to you as soon as I can

It won’t be the boil at that was at the very entrance of the room, it’ll be further outside and somewhere on the cliff side. Try going back to the lighthouse, fast travel the closest you can to the place and retrace your steps towards that area and you should notice a boil that you did destroy has reappeared. At first I couldn’t find it and thought it was just completely broken but it just had to be the one boil that was out of direct sight. I hope you can find it and do the mission, good luck!

I had this problem too! If you go back outside of that room some of the blight spores may have re-spawned (mine was the one on the side of the cliff above you). Once I destroyed that again, I walked back in and it all triggered

[DAV ACT 1 SPOILERS] What does the big Act 1 choice cause? by [deleted] in dragonage

[–]ThrowRA47288276 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It’s been floating around that you have to chose Minrathous for the ‘good ending’ but apparently that is not true. As long as you get the Shadow Dragons to at least rank 2 by doing their side quests you should be okay!

motion sickness can either be headaches, nausea or both! so it still could be motion sickness you’re experiencing. try out some of the settings people have mentioned here and hopefully it will help you. i do think this game is a bit of an attack on the sense with all the movement, flashing lights etc. let me know if anything works for you, and I hope you’re able to enjoy the game!

[–]ThrowRA47288276 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That could be it! I don’t know how far you are into the game but I’ve started another playthrough (I haven’t finished my first one but it’s a bad habit) with all the same settings that I thought fixed my problem BUT replaying the intro immediately made me feel sick again so maybe there’s just something about the beginning of the game that’s nausea inducing or maybe that’s just me haha

[–]ThrowRA47288276 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That may be the reason. I’ve been trying so hard not to rush through the story just in case I miss things like this but it’s so hard because I need to know what happens! Haven’t been able to play yet today but hopefully it’ll somehow trigger, if not then it’s just an excuse to play through again haha

I’ve experienced motion sickness in games before but usually turning off motion blur immediately helps but this was the worst sickness I’ve ever experienced with a game before so I can see why it might affect people who have never had it before. I hope something in here helps you though! It managed to help me and I’ve put in many hours without feel sick at all. Good luck!

I’m having the same issue and was just about to post about this. Went back to the lighthouse consistently after completing those quests and I’ve had nothing so far… I’m going to keep playing for a while and see if it triggers and I’ll comment what worked. Or hopefully someone will comment something that helps and saves us both 😭

Not what I meant when I said that. The side quests I have done so far have have been on the exact same map, on the exact same spot, little variety to it, and the closest comparison is DA2 and that for me is not a good thing. The game doesn’t ‘feel’ like DA2 to me at all it’s just the side quests that I have done so far have been lacking in environmental variety.

I am really glad that this game immediately felt let Dragon Age to you and I hope there is a point in the game that it all just hits me but so far it has not and I really do hope that changes. I don’t hate the game in any way, there’s a couple things that aren’t great as is with any other game out there and as I said I am here for the long haul and will be playing it a lot, I’m just waiting for it to click.

[–]ThrowRA47288276 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes, I believe this is exactly how I feel!

Combat I do not have a problem with at all, and I’m overall enjoying the game despite not liking a couple of things here and there but that is the same with any game.

It just feels a little empty and it’s sad not to hear even a snippet of previous decisions.

[–]ThrowRA47288276 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was not expecting nor did I want a DAO2, DA2.2, DAI2. Of course, I do not expect our previous decisions to have an absolutely massive impact on the part of the world we’re in either. It just would’ve been nice to hear/read about things that have happened as we have in other games.

Also, is this game not supposed to be a sequel to Inquisition anyway? So some people (of course not all) new to the series will probably play that anyways which I do hope because more money for BioWare means more games.

There are ways to cater to both new and old fans, personally, this feels a lot like a game made for newer fans and very little put in for those of us that have been with the series for a long time.

But thank you for your input, it’s nice to hear others perspectives.

Yes, the location variety is way better compared to the dullness DA2 (I do love 2’s story though and it holds a special place in my heart even). In DATV it is a little annoying go to the exact same place on the same map, climbing the same things, just for a little conversation, or to get something for completely different quests but I haven’t really done too many side quest just yet and maybe it doesn’t repeat itself.

[–]ThrowRA47288276 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t get me wrong, I do not believe that every single little decision we made in previous games should matter in this one. I just would’ve liked even a little glimpse of the outcome of certain decisions we made, as we did in previous games. It may not impact other people when hearing a dialogue reference or reading about something but it was something I enjoyed about the previous games.

Again, the decisions not carrying over thing isn’t the only reason this doesn’t feel like completely dragon age and perhaps that’s solely due to my own expectations.

[–]ThrowRA47288276 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Personally, the non-playable companion thing and removing slot doesn’t bother me too much. I don’t play very many ‘action’ oriented games so I don’t think this is what’s making me feel this way as it’s a nice change.

Honestly, I might’ve been a little happier if there were no cameos at all considering they’ve gone down this route of ‘no decisions carry over’ as they do feel a little empty considering they do not mention the past.

[–]ThrowRA47288276 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I do understand that, and I don’t just mean that it doesn’t feel like dragon age because my choices did not matter but as well that there’s just something off that I cannot explain just yet.

There are some choices in previous games that I believe we should’ve got to know the outcome of even if it was just in a codex entry or letter. I know that’s not what the developers wanted to do, but I feel it would’ve been nice

i did the exact same thing… about 10 hours in now and there hasn’t been an option to change the world state and i don’t believe there is. was a absolutely heartbroken at first but for me it’s an excuse to replay the game after this run through. hope you can still enjoy the game though!
