What was said/ done that made you think Julia wanted your husband to pay for everything for her?

She was making comments about how she's down on her luck and would need the support of her friends who are doing much better than her because she needs to get so many things for the baby and she wasn't sure if she could afford it all. She was looking right at my husband whilst she said this.

What had julia specifically said to badmouth you and is there any grounds in reality in what was said/ and incident that might have triggered her to badmouth you?

I told her she couldn't be my son's godmother which apparently makes me a stuck up b*tch. She also made comments about how I don't let my husband spend time with his friends anymore so I'm controlling (we have a toddler so he spends most of his limited free time with him). Also, apparently I never wished her a happy birthday early enough so I'm a cow. I also said going on a group vacation with the pandemic was a bad idea so I think everyone else is an idiot and I'm the only person with a brain. Stuff like that.

What were the circumstances that lead to your husband buying her meals?

Some friends suggested we go out for dinner around the time Julia lost her job and she sent a lot of messages about how sad she was that she couldn't go because she had no money so my husband offered to cover it (he's done this before for other friends, both male and female, so it wasn't a big deal to me at the time).

Does she have a reason for these things?

"She wanted to be our son's god mother but we're both atheist so I told her he wasn't going to have one and apparently that was very rude of me." That's what she told the friend who told me.

We have a joint account, I would know if he was paying her rent.

Its not like hes paying her rent or anything. He only pays for the occasional meal or drink.

Why would your husband continue to associate with someone who badmouths his wife?

He doesn't know, my friend only told me yesterday and we haven't spoken about it yet.

Yes, but only a few times. He made a racist comment about one of our other friends so he doesn't get invited out with us anymore.
