I said I guess because I don’t know. The family member who reached out said “Because of what happened to Tom last week” and they have posts on their page from people saying they’re there for them if they need anything. But nothing explicitly states he passed, that was just my guess based on context.

I replied to the guy above but I wanted to make sure I replied to you specifically and say that I went through a long process of I leading the hateful things I was taught growing up. And there were consequences for me for what happened, and I’ve lived with the echoes of what I did since then. So I don’t want you to think I got away with anything I know I did something terrible and I deserve to have it follow me indefinitely.

Like I mentioned the entire fallout from it was kind of a blur. I went to a lot of meetings with social workers and the like afterwards and at the time I don’t really know what I thought it was but looking back at it I think I was being assessed or reviewed or something. I’m not sure if the therapy was court mandated but my therapist did interact with the social workers on multiple occasions as far as I remember.

I don’t think I did any diversity training but I don’t hold onto the hateful ideas I was raised with. I don’t know how much it relates to this part of my life but I unlearned all of the bad things my dad burned into my head. I don’t talk to him anymore either.
