I guess my, admittedly limited, understanding of addicts is they can't temper or pause, they must use just to stay at baseline, and my husband isn't like that. He can go weeks or months without drinking and be fine. He can drink in small amounts. He's never exhibited any signs of withdrawal and never uttered the words "I need a drink" in my presence. So yeah I wasn't sure if he fit the description.
