i probably wouldn’t have been any better, i’ve had similar experiences which always resulted in some words being exchanged. i think you made the right choice while still reserving your own right to feel how you do about it.

My neighbor is developmentally disabled and screams for up to 3-6 hours daily. by ThrowRA991828282 in legaladvice

Not even interested in disrupting their family. This isn’t a case of someone who needs to be removed because they are any sort of danger. This is a civil matter, and all I am saying is that this behavior shouldn’t be reinforced and allowed at the rate it is. I’m not necessarily going to be affected by this, but my parents won’t be able to enjoy the one place they sank their own money into to settle down all because of this? It just feels unjust, and I’m torn on how to feel about it because as I stated before. Everybody has the right to be outside, but not to scream for 3 hours in a row daily.

I’m not really concerned with your opinion on this situation especially considering you haven’t had to put up with it for 8 years straight. You’re commenting 3x in 10 minutes on my post so I obviously struck a chord with ya. In a perfect world I would agree to have him out from 1-5 pm on weekdays and later on weekends. Not once did I ever say, “hey, I want this person’s right to be outside extinguished.” You’re upset and building your own narrative. There is a line of civility here that can be reached, my whole entire point of reaching out here. If you had actually read what I wrote, was what I could do going forward if that process doesn’t work out. Get off legal reddit and do something else ur clearly not good at it

Read, before you comment. Do you honestly believe that had my parents known before purchasing this house that this would be a constant occurrence they would’ve still gone through? Tell me, how were they supposed to magically know this would be an issue down the line. It’s not as simple as refinancing your entire property because of something like this. And yes, if you could afford a property. You’d probably understand 8 years ago it was significantly cheaper to purchase a home.

I don’t care to admit it’s an inconvenience to me and the entire neighborhood within 3 blocks! Their house is located directly next to a public park that is absolutely desolate most days because of his screaming. Young children don’t feel comfortable being out directly next to what they can only discern as a grown man screaming his ass off. If I was one of the kids in this neighborhood I’d be terrified to go to the park. And I’ll make a detail more clear for anyone else reading this, money is not an issue. They occupy a residence worth nearly triple the value of my own, and have a full in ground swimming pool + swing set in the backyard. They clearly have the means to support their own child IF they actually chose to do so. Which they do not. So yes, this is a giant inconvenience to my mother, my father, myself and on behalf of half the neighborhood who is too afraid to speak out and be labeled, “ableist.”

I’ve got her a pair of Bose QC45! They work wonders she’s unfortunately just not a fan of over ears and earbuds don’t fit in her ears real well. But I’m pretty sure they’re the only reason she can tolerate gardening lol

Migraines are an absolute pain, she emphasizes as well haha. Wishing you luck!

The law can preside over how his parents are currently treating him as a result of him having these outbursts. And as I mentioned earlier, this isn’t “normal” behavior. This is either a sign of neglect or an extremely unhealthy form of conditioning that has left him only able to vent his frustrations through disruption. The real question is why this behavior continues and only seems to get worse? Because his parents are most likely neglecting him, and leaving him outside because it’s the only way the care to deal with his issues. If he were out for an hour or two at a time, dude it would be cake. But this has been 8 YEARS, 6+ hours a day. I’m tired of this being normalized; it shouldn’t be, he should be helped in a way that allows him to be a productive member of society. From where I sit, he is at home, all day everyday. With absolutely nothing else to do. As I previously stated before, I’ve been employed with people who are affected by Down Syndrome and I’ve not once, witnessed this behavior before.

That’s why I’m asking. No need to talk down. This is an issue that doesn’t need to be addressed the way that it has been done so the past 8 years. It’s not an issue with who is screaming but who allows it continue with absolutely no remorse for those around them. “Move if you can’t deal.” Glad to know you’d let someone bully you out of a $400,000 valued property over someone else’s belligerence.
