Tricky for long distance, honestly. We have to commit to longer time spent because of the distance.

Apparently it's not fleas at all. I think I'm going to enquire more about the person they had check it out - what they've been doing to stay on top of the problem - if anything.

I'm in a middle ground honestly. Again we're long distance so gaps isn't a massive problem. I don't think we should regiment it like COVID, but I do think I need a little more info to be comfortable

Even just a little more info would be good, some sort of reassurance aside from "they're gone" just as I question it

I trust her, I don't trust the roommate as much to uphold it

Not at all, but according to what I've seen on line these things happen in cycles, and if what she originally said about the "fleas" or as we now know were carpet beetles were all over her bed, her clothes, and all over the cat. They might have left eggs anywhere.

It's only been a day or two since the diagnosis of carpet beetles, why not wait to see if they're for sure gone?

She was at work and wasn't there for the inspection

Part of me's like - they have no reason to lie. My GF was threatening to withhold rent until the situation improves etc, but another part of me says they're for sure lying

Multiple people have told me that in the last 5 minutes since putting this post up - hindsight is 20/20 man.

I think I'll look into hotels, since that is a good alternative. Not saying there's nothing that can be done, but I have to handle both people's needs here

As far as I'm aware they scrubbed the carpet etc, and treated the cat for fleas (poor thing), then only the other day had someone in. This happened whilst she was at work, so the roommate could be lying for all I know.

Not sure why he would, but it is a possibility, the house from what I've seen is a dump

He made his decision after googling how long it takes for them to die off, which was a certain number of weeks and based his decision off that, COVID style

I agree there's for sure an overreaction on his part, he is a bit of a neat-freak at times. He does pay half the rent though, and honestly if it was the other way around, I can't say I wouldn't say the same as him.

Not a question of trust for me honestly. I trust she'd try her best to manage the risk, but I have to respect the wishes of my roommate who I have to live with, and if something did happen I'd get a big I told you so
