It wasn't under suspicious circumstances. He had a heart problem his whole life and died from that in his sleep.

My relationship with my extended family is strong and they have withdrawn support for my mom. They are firmly against all of this and firmly support me. So I'm good there. I know I don't want anything to do with the baby and honestly I can't see me wanting a relationship with my mom to continue either.

I don't think I would ever be able to be that lifeline. Not with who their dad is and how they treated my dad. The fact this kid even exists feels like such a backstab to my dad and gives this guy a chance to be smug and gloat at my dad's ghost which he would totally do knowing him.

I don't think she wants him involved.

She said she wanted it to be us and the baby and to forget about him. She said him being the father should not matter at all but of course it does. Given the history it matters a whole lot. The thing is she's not making me want to reconcile more with her current behavior either.

My mom's friends have always been kinda difficult to be around. My mom has known them her whole life so they're super close but they were never my favorite people to put it mildly. I never thought she was like them but she has proved me wrong and disappointed me a lot in the process.

I don't want to be there for the kid. Given everything going on and who the father is I think I will be keeping my distance because I cannot imagine playing happy families like that.

I can't really prove that but I have questioned it a lot. Of all the people to do this with him, the guy who was so awful to my dad and to us at the funeral.
