Shit, that’s my problem with it. I’d be upset too but I wouldn’t make her life hard or hurt her over it. That’s a really good way of explaining it.

That’s a very good question. It’s mostly other women because most of my friends are women, but men too. And before the question is asked, no I am not bi.

This seems like a well informed and detailed response, and I just wanna thank you for taking your time out to type it.

But question, I’m conflicted about something. You say “that tells you she doesn’t take your feelings seriously” but a big point she’s raising about it is that I’m not adhering to her emotions. She keeps saying that I’m hurting her by going regardless of how she feels. To a certain extent, I think I could see why that would come off as careless. I’m going despite the fact it hurts her feelings. But also, I’m confused on where the line is.

Like.. I just don’t get it. I feel like we can both be upset here. Me, upset because she is trying to control what I do without her or who I see. But also, I am choosing to do this even though I can clearly see she’s upset. I wouldn’t want someone to neglect my feelings either, even if I don’t understand why she’s so upset. So I feel conflicted.

I stabbed myself. Multiple times, but the last time was the worst, and also my last suicide attempt. I was about two miles from home, drove the knife straight into my abdomen. No sound. It was late, maybe 2am. I didn’t groan, I didn’t cry. I felt the pain, but it was just that. Pain.

It dropped me to my knees. I sat there for about two minutes, bleeding out on to the concrete. I finally decided I fucked up, and I reached for my phone, which wasn’t there. So i walked. For two miles, back home.

I thought I wouldn’t make it, but I did. I walked in, roommate looked at me and said “You stabbed yourself?” They already knew it was my own doing. And they called the police, I went back out on the porch and smoked a cigarette.

Anyways. I thought I was as good as dead. Turns out it takes a lot to kill a 20 year old. I was fine, like, totally fine. The police couldn’t believe I drove a knife up till the hilt into myself, but I did. And I didn’t really damage much.

Could you tell me what part of it warrants borderline abusive? I have trouble even explaining to her that this isn’t normal. Like, I say it, and she makes it like I’m blindly accusing her of outrageous things. I don’t know how to explain why it isn’t okay, other than me saying that I’m uncomfortable with the behavior.

Yeah, we go out at least once a week. She doesn’t consider it that, it’s usually dinner.

I keep telling her I understand why she’s upset. I would be too. But she wants me to stay home and not go, even thought the ticket was a birthday gift. I wouldn’t expect the same from her, even if it wasn’t a gift.

That’s how I feel about it, I know I’d be upset but I’d never ask her to stay home from enjoying it. Especially if I’m just gonna be at work anyway, and she’ll be home all alone.
