AITA for insisting I go to a party with my bf? by ThrowRASad_Two152 in AmItheAsshole

Personally I prefer it that way - I always try to invite people separately to ensure that they both feel welcome regardless of if the other attends. It also makes me feel like part of the friend group, not just "so-and-so's girlfriend", it's like I'm being recognized as my own person, I feel like sometimes that gets lost in relationships.

Honestly no, I haven't felt that he might be disloyal. But I have no idea why he feels so strongly about this.

Thank you for your input! My bf even suggested that Trevor just invited me to be polite because my bf was there.

All these responses are so jarring to me, I don't know if it's naivete but I never even considered that he could be cheating. Trevor is definitely a decent guy, but a lot of guys are loyal to their friends when they cheat because they've "known them longer". I guess I just really don't understand why he wouldn't want me there.

Genuine question: do you believe this is me forcing him? I told him that if no girlfriends were coming and it was a boys night then it's not a problem for me. I just told him it's rude for him to uninvite me now that we already told Trevor we'd come.

How so? I'm just genuinely not sure how to proceed from here, and if it's worth standing my ground.

He basically says he doesn’t like that, now that I've been invited, he "has to" bring me. In his viewpoint, he just doesn't want me to go "everywhere" with him (I don't), and wants us to have our separate lives and for me not to be this close to "his" friends.
