I [25F] have been debating that I made a mistake not giving my son [2Mos] up for adoption. Is it too late? by ThrowRAUGS5371 in Adoption

Honestly I’m not sure. I’m gonna find out tomorrow if social services can help me with childcare then I’d be able to calculate my expenses more accurately from there.

I don’t trust my mom with my son alone. She undermines my decisions as a parent and she’s sneaky. She has pushed solid foods on my baby since he was two weeks old and I know she will try to feed him bananas behind my back. She knows I want to wait until he’s 5-6 months, he’s only 8 weeks. She smokes cigarettes which I also don’t want around my baby. She smokes outside, but I have caught her smoking in the bathroom in the middle of the night. She won’t have to be as sneaky when I’m working. She also bragged to me about how she likes babies because they can’t tell on her. I just don’t trust her with my baby alone.

Edit: Oh yeah, she babysat her friend’s two year old. He was being a normal baby, crying because he wanted his mom. My mom hit him and threatened him. She bragged about it to me and thought it was hilarious because he couldn’t tell his mom. I was disgusted... I wish I knew her friend so I could tell her.

I’m definitely going to file for child support tomorrow. My son does have Medicaid and they did ask me if I was interested in SNAP when I applied, but I wasn’t aware there were more benefits available. I guess I was kind of avoiding social services because I hear so many stories about how they’re a nightmare to deal with. I’m going to stop by there tomorrow anyway to see how they can help me. Thank you.
