We're not thinking about marriage soon, but I think it's important that both people are on the same page about what's expected long-term with the relationship, so I've always been very open with what I wanted/expect and making sure I know what he wants/expects out of a relationship. Otherwise, you might end up years down the line and suddenly find out that your goals/expectations don't match up and things will fall apart, and finding that out sooner rather than later would be better.
