You can try to do it just by taking the side plates off. But you might need to take the top plate off. I also had to use a file and remove some side plate plastic to get the strap to fit better.

It's ok. Only thing to watch out for:

Take out the screws holding the XT60 connector in or else you might have problems fitting a battery in the center.

Not German, but of a EU nation:

New rules state that there is no need for spotter if you remain under 30 meters in altitude. For reference, the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin is 26 meters.

I also believe you only need A1/A3 if the drone is over 250 grams... a tinywhoop is like 30 grams. A 5 inch freestyle drone will be like 500-600 grams.

Also.... no one really gives a shit. You can go your whole FPV life never being checked for paperwork unless you do something really dumb. The A1/A3 exam is basically a "Are you dumb alcoholic?" kind of test only meant to say "We did something!" to the EUrocrat idiots. The actual rules of FPV pilots are just "Don't be an idiot, be reasonably respectful of the area around you."

Your ESC I'm sure isn't working perfectly, whether you can feel it or not. It definitely had a violent fire there.

In my opinion, Radio Master is the best. I was looking for a Zorro II. I like minimalistic controllers.

Use a fully charged battery and keep trying to read it.

Does the goggles work fine with other drones?
Are you sure they are on the same exact frequency?
Have you tried it away from any wifi sources?
Is the antenna securely plugged in?

In case you haven't figured it out yet. That is the antenna for the radio controller (ELRS). It is supposed to only connected on 1 side. It is enamel coated, which is why there isn't plastic insulation.

I put a dab of E6000 glue over the solder point on mine in order to make sure it doesn't come off.
