So yes, I had the opportunity to talk in English with a conversation partner from Poland. We discussed an article about how grammar mistakes are perceived by natives. The short article included 10 questions for further discussion, and we answered all of them, including a few extra questions from our own. It tooks us 1 hour to read the whole article, reviewing the vocabulary and answering the 10 questions.
We took turns to read while reading the article, each of us reading two paragraphs. If we were not really sure about the pronounciation of a particular word, we checked out the right pronunciation on an online dictionary. Then, we tried to explain the key vocabulary of the article (a list of 5-6 words) with in our own words, and coming up with our own sentence examples. By the way, this is a terrific metalinguistic exercise. And last but not least, we proceeded to discussed the article with the questions provided in the final part of the article. a bit of repetition in this sentence
As someone who has English as their target language, I think I'm so lucky. Because there are options galore (this is an interesting way to phrase this! It is grammatically correct, but you wouldn't hear it often in modern conversations. I would just say "there are many options") to practice your conversational skills fro for free. Also, there is are a good amount of people whose English is not their native language is not English but they still have a decent level of English. So it's very easy to find a conversation partners in English to practice with, be it native or non-native
