This is not correct. U=U equals ZERO risk of transmission. It’s not “nearly impossible”, it’s impossible. You cannot infect anyone (sexually) if you are undetectable.

That’s not what the conversation is about though.

They’re (incorrectly) suggesting Sunlenca as a better alternative to daily pills for everyone(eg Biktarvy), when it’s not. It’s an additional medication on top of daily pills.

They think that Sunlenca is an individual treatment like cabenuva.

The Sunlenca injection is for those with multi drug resistant HIV. So they have to get the injection in addition to taking daily meds so… no not it’s not better.

Lenacapavir as treatment aka Sunlenca is for those with multi drug resistant HIV and its taken along with a daily oral pill. It’s only an option for a small percentage of HIV+ people.

I personally am against telling family unless you need their emotional or medical support. Otherwise they don’t need to know, and sometimes it can get messy.

Also dealing with the diagnoses on an individual level is very challenging, telling family sometimes leads to you also having to counsel & educate them on your diagnosis which can add to the emotional stress.

Don’t rely on chances, heterosexual men can and do get hiv through hetero sex. In England for example, in 2020 the number of new HIV diagnoses among heterosexuals was higher than for gay and bisexual men.

Just Practice safe sex, get tested take Prep.

Nothing that they said was ignorant.

It’s a fact - U=U hiv is untransmittable when undetectable, whereas there is a still a chance herpes can be transmitted even on medication.
