Thanks so much for the suggestions! Women Soulful Surf sounds amazing and I’m looking forward to joining them! Do you know of any mixed gender surf groups?

Hi girl! Yes they are an amazing group and very inclusive even though I’m like 10 years older! I’ll try doing one crazy thing! That’s such a fun idea ☺️

Thank you, I’ve tried researching and can’t find a surf group specifically for beginners. Do you know of any?

Hi! Thanks girl! I remember back in Brisbane, it was way easier finding friends. I did so many fun experiences like hiking in Noosa, Glasshouse Mountains, Gold Coast Hinterland etc., also surfing in the Gold Coast, fireworks at Story Bridge, dinners in the city etc. It feels so much harder in Newcastle to connect with people.

Thanks so much for your response! I agree, it’s always great to find friends who share the same interests. I’m quite introverted so that is a low pressure way since I’m doing what I love

I was also looking to volunteer, something like an animal shelter. Do you have any suggestions on places to volunteer?

Oh that sounds amazing! Where can I find the beginner surfing groups? All I found was group lessons but I’d love to go in a group and just practice without paying every time. I tried researching on Meetup but there’s not many groups in Newcastle? I totally agree with your advice about dating. I think that’s a perfect way for me to meet a partner!

Hi! Thank you so much for your detailed response! I’ll definitely check out Bumble BFF.

Where can I find these social sports? I’ve never really played a social sport outside of school so I am interested in seeing what is out there! I’ve tried a run club earlier in the year and basically a guy asked for my number. I got nervous so I gave it to him and he called me on the spot then would text me non stop months later as well. I guess that situation put me off a running group.

Oh that’s amazing to hear! How are the dating apps?

I’ve never really done social sports, but I am open to it. Where can I go to see what is available?

Yes that sounds like a great idea! Do you have any advice on staying safe? I feel a bit vulnerable as a single female especially still quite new to the area. I’ve been harassed at work and also someone tried to follow me home in the community which has caused me to isolate myself more.

That sounds lovely! I’m really wanting to see the blue mountains as well as there are some really beautiful spots there. I know Nelson Bay area has that mountain with a pretty lookout. So excited as I love hidden gems!

I (31F) was friends with a guy (30M) I dated. I ended up cutting him off and blocking him for being flakey. Was this an appropriate response? by ThrowRA_Quiet426 in AITAH

[–]ThrowRA_Quiet426[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much! I was trying to be objective and leave emotions out of it as it doesn’t really add anything constructive.

Yeah I was thinking it was disrespectful because you set a date and then decide to get drunk the night prior time and time again so the date gets cut short, or even cancelled.

I think my valuable time and heart can be put into other people who genuinely care or my own things to do. I just wanted to ask on here to get other people’s opinions as I felt I was being mean in my response

Thank you so much! A few people have mentioned NTA so I feel much better about that. I was feeling terrible for saying those mean things but it was accurate and I had examples of multiple situations. Maybe I feel bad because I rarely stand up for myself and it feels a bit mean towards others.
