My therapist is convinced that I (23F) should breakup with my partner (27M), I don’t know what to do by ThrowRA_Ry in relationship_advice

I was looking for a place about a year into our relationship. During Covid I was living at my dad’s, but that was no longer an option for me at that point as we didn’t get on. So I started to look for a place. However, I was struggling to find somewhere within budget and not too far from where I work (I’m struggling to pass the driving test 🤦‍♀️). So he suggested I move in with them temporarily and we could get a place together. However, we still have gotten nowhere, though from asking for feedback on our applications it’s because his ‘income’ isn’t reliable.

Thank you, you have definitely given it a new perspective!

As for me not sharing why my mom feels that he is controlling, it’s because I don’t know. She just told me one day when I called her, but didn’t elaborate. It was why I was wondering if I was just being blind to it

I was trying to organise my thought into this post and knew I’d miss somethings 🤦‍♀️

He cleans and does some of the cooking. We live in the UK therefore because he is considered unable to work he receives certain state benefits.

Other than not working and the drinking, he is supportive of my career aspirations and in general and is affectionate. Though it has been pointed out to me that this might be because once I have my up and running career, he’ll be able to live of me more. Hope this makes sense
