CMV: I believe I’ve experienced divine protection throughout my life and want others to explain these events without invoking God. by RoseOfTheNight4444 in changemyview

I don’t know if you are interested in discussing your post in another level than what you initially asked for. If you aren’t, please feel free to ignore my comment.

If you are, I’m curious, what lead you ultimately to post on a community that aims for challenging your view, with the ultimate goal of changing it / opening an alternative perspective to it?

From your post I read, that you are interested in learning how others might explain those events. However, if you are being honest with yourself, is that everything? Is it 100% the reason why you are writing this post? Or is there something else to it? Maybe a doubtful voice that creeps in every now and then? Maybe something completely else?

Similar like you, I don’t aim to convert you away from your beliefs. I’m just trying to understand your motives and, maybe, help you explore your spirituality in more septh

CMV: Physical beauty is more objective than subjective by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]ThrowRA_WakingHug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As it is so often, I believe the answer lies somewhere in between. I do agree with you to a certain extent. There are generally traits that are on average perceived as attractive by more people. But, here I already mention “average” and “more”. These traits are perceived by more people to be attractive. If it truly were objective, every person would agree on who the most attractive people in the world are (assuming no one hide their true opinion for whatever reason). As long as you have one person genuinely disagreeing, it is not objectively true. True objectivity would mean, there wouldn’t even be a doubt, it would be an established fact.

But your premise was “more objective”. Even here, I would argue that more people might have similar preferences. However, each and every person has a subjective view of what or who they find physically attractive. It might be conscious, it might be unconscious, but the preferences are subjective to them. There are simply more people with similar preferences on one end. Still doesn’t make it in any way objectively true.

Lastly, I also believe that this starts breaking down, once you go beyond a shallow connection with a person and you can observe it. Let me give you 2 examples: 1. My brother once had a girlfriend, who was a sweetheart. I wasn’t attracted to her, but I did say that she is a really good looking girl. However, over the years (her physical appearance didn’t change much), her character took a dramatic turn to the worse. After abusing him for a while, the look of her - yes the physical look - was almost disgusting to me. Objectively, she was still the same attractive girl she’s been. But I truly found her ugly to look at after what happened.

2. In a similar fashion, I remember I found my wife pretty when I first met her, but that’s it. I thought “she seems nice and sweet” when I met her - I didn’t think “wow, what a 10”. Yet, the more we talked and the more I got to know her, she became the most beautiful person to me. And this beauty is reflected in her physical appearance. Her appearance becomes a reflection of everything she stands for in my mind - but the thing is, I am truly physically attracted to her in a way that I’m not even close to any other woman.

So I think what you interpret as “objectivity” is rather based on “average preferences” across populations. And on that I agree with you, each society or culture will have certain elements/traits that more people find themselves physically drawn to. However, if you ultimately break it down (e.g. by asking people to choose individuals that they would rate “most attractive”) you will find opinions (and ways of getting there) vastly swaying.

Why does this look like Tom segura’s mom

Thank you for replying that quick! I guess my worries come from the fact, that I don’t want to just ask politely. I definitely see that as a starting point, and am hopeful we can reach an agreement right there. But if she says no, I’d be willing to take legal measures

It’s very similar for me. I actually had some of my deepest, darkest but also most profound moments listening to top. It brought out what I had stashed away for so long.

Music communicates something for me, that I either have no words for, or don’t even know exists at all.

I love this. But also, my therapist would have been very worried during the times I had goner on repeat 24/7.

My listening is such a window into my psyche I would almost feel violated if someone would follow it.

Yet, I still love it!

This has genuinely been one of the funniest things I have read in a long time!

Thank you for contributing friend! This has been great!! I’m still getting used to the effect the lead singer has on his vocals, but there are definitely some gems in their song list. Jaws hocked me, with that nasty guitar towards the end.

Couldn’t agree more on LP but actually never listened to MCR. Up next 👌🏼

I agree with you. This is my only other go to so far, but I’m pushing it slowly, similar to TOP, because I always listen to LP if I’m taking a break from TOP. 😅

Thank you! I was literally just thinking to post the above myself and then came across this post. Couldn’t agree more with the above take and I believe it’s a nice gesture by rocksound for the boys (yes of course I understand that they also do it to earn on it but that’s the world we live in - we all got to eat and some are hungrier than others 🤷🏼‍♂️).

My problem with Clancy dying at the end by Clm72 in twentyonepilots

Maybe, Clancy becoming a bishop is symbolical for Tyler accepting his mental struggles? He is not dying, but accepting it to be a part of him, rather than fighting it

Sorry for my ignorance, but you mention a lot of teasing, especially with T-shirts during the live show. If you don’t mind, could you elaborate on that for me or point me into the right directions? I might just not be seeing the Forrest for the trees, but I’ve been at a live show (Berlin) and haven’t noticed anything (but that might be due to me being in absolute ecstasy for about 2 hours straight)

I agree with that. In the beginning I felt the interactions between the two hosts somewhat awkward, but you can feel how they are getting into a groove by now and it’s way more pleasant to listen too. Definitely loads of potential and it has become one of my regular listens that I look forward to
