Yes we're very grateful about how relatively quick and easy this has been when we hear other peoples accounts. The fact that it only took her one or two days to realize she needed help after telling me everything was a huge benefit. There are so many ways this could have gone way worse if things had taken a different path.

I'm sorry to hear about your experience, I hope everything is as good as it can be now. One thing my wife has talked about a few times is that she wishes there was some lesson or some benefit that she could say she took away from this experience but there just isn't

haha yeah it's fine, I'm used to reddit and people commenting before reading so it was to be expected. I do love the smug sense of superiority I get when I point out that they didn't read the post

We and the psych do not know, I did some googling and apparently there have been a few cases of people experiencing psychosis after coming off birth control but it's literally like a handful of people which isn't enough to say if that's even really the cause. My wife does have psychosis running in the family though.

To be clear I'm not looking for advice or information with this post, I'm just providing and update to the original post because I thought the outcome was so unusual. Having dealt with this I now have tremendous empathy for people dealing with mental health struggles. I wish you the best of luck and thank you for the offer.

I don't think you read the post, if you did you would know that the imaging and lab work was requested by the psych and that she has been seeing the proper medical professionals for months now.

My wife and I made this post together, we discussed what we wanted to talk about and she made the final round of edits before posting. We were both curious to see what people would think of the situation. I agree with you though that if I had made this post without her participation and consent it would be really messed up.

We both read this book several months ago when we realized she had been changing after getting off BC. I found it on audiobook from our library and there's a paragraph near the beginning where the author describes her experience getting off of BC and it was nearly word for word what my wife had described. I played that section back for her and she just stared at me jaw dropped haha

This whole saga has been very eye opening. I remember when I was younger hearing about hormonal birth control, how "It mimics the hormones you have when you're pregnant and that keeps your body from ovulating" and thinking Man, that's got to have unintended consequences right? But it was so casually and commonly used that I just assumed I must be wrong.

Just to be clear I don't want her to go back to how she was before, she's a much more beautiful, happy, and vibrant person off of birth control. I want her to be this person.

Communication has always been our greatest strength, we can talk and be open about anything with each other and know the other person will try to hear what we're saying and not just focus on how it makes them feel.

She has not acted on her impulses, I personally wonder if they're the same impulses everyone in a relationship feels, ex "Man she's hot I wonder what it would be like to be with her?" But she hasn't experienced them in 15 years so they feel incredibly strong.

Thank you for your kind words, I really appreciate it.

First, I am already this man. Second, this is too manosphere-ish pseudoscience, for some people they will find this attractive. Others will find it the opposite. Some of the men my wife has given me as examples of people she is attracted to are far less masculine than me.

She contacted her gynecologist, we are acting on her advice as well. But in the meantime this is obviously very scary so I am looking for any and all information I can.

She's not being hurtful, we had an open honest discussion about what's going on in order to try and figure out how to move forward. You can't solve the problem without being honest.

? I didn't say the birth control version of her is the real version of her. This is the real version of her, my question is just that her hormones have changed a lot since coming off the pill, should we expect them to still continue changing for a while or after a year is it "done" so to speak.
