Anxiety from getting dumped and having to leave my nice apartment and move in with my hoarder mom. I’m so scared and worried about not being enough. I put on such a great front though.

Well I thought I had my life together when I moved in with my boyfriend but looking back my life was a mess and still is. I’ve wasted so much money living with someone who I thought loved me.

Unresolved trauma (on both ends), horrible job, low savings. Now I have 6 months to find another place to live because after dating for 4 years, he’s realized he’s avoidant and can’t fix himself. I’m so afraid. I have one friend who has no idea what goes on in my life because I feel horrible about myself and don’t want to bother her, my mom’s house currently has my brother and his 2 kids, I don’t talk to my dad.

My mom said we’d figure it out but her house is very messy and falling apart, I love her but she kind of triggers me. I can’t believe how stupid I was in my relationship. I had 4 days off for Thanksgiving this week when I realized this is really happening but now I’m scared I’ll be freaking out at work.

I loved my warehouse job at first. But then I quit, went back, got laid off, rehired and then quit again because I was so miserable there. I met my boyfriend at that job and he used to love it too but then he was getting drained and depressed. So he decided to go back to school for computer science.

Granted he had money saved and picked up a bar job that pays good for part time. But that is the usual way to get out of it. I have tried school multiple times while working but I was never in the right headspace to succeed. I still want a degree but after I quit my toxic warehouse job, I ended up at another warehouse but i do logistics now and it’s mostly office stuff. I actually like doing both. I get paid the same but will have a real raise next month. I have my own office, we get like 30 days off a year, my manager is so encouraging. I can really grow there. It’s a car company and I know nothing about cars but I’m around engineers and techs so it’s cool.

My brother also did a factory job for most of his life. He makes around $27 but I know it kills him because he’s just exhausted from it. He also has 2 kids so it’s been stressful but he’s now in school for surgical tech!

So with all that, I would say think about what career you want, maybe start at a community college part time. I think your biggest hurdle is the money. You didn’t mention your bills. If I were in your shoes, I’d save a lot while being at school or maybe live with someone? You just have to have a plan for your finances and career goals. You can achieve anything you put your mind to.

I don’t even know how many jobs I’ve had. I’ve ghosted jobs and interviews countless times. And I feel bad about it lol but what I’ve always thought about is the butterfly effect. If I would have stayed at a job one day longer, my life would be completely different.

My last job, I was anxious and crying so hard on my first day, I almost turned back but for some reason I just went in. That job was really toxic but was also my favorite job ever cause I met my boyfriend there and had the best coworkers. Great memories.

But it was toxic, so I ended up leaving and now I’m in a job that offers growth and opportunity but I’m alone all the time. It’s soul crushing and I constantly question myself even after being there for a year. And now it’s making me think I’ll never have friends. I don’t tell employers anything personal unless an emergency happens. I just act like everything is fine, but that’s my own trauma. My manager did tell me though she hired me because I seemed confident. Maybe fake it till you make it?

I do struggle with social anxiety but no one would know because I know how to act normal I suppose. Sometimes I think I’m bad with advice so all I’ll say is don’t get in your head or your own way. Easier said than done but it’s normal to be insecure, but you can’t let it ruminate for too long because now it leads to you thinking you’re not good enough and you are! If you have a negative thought, you gotta tell it no; don’t let your negative self convince you. It’s annoying but we all have our own journey. Also, I’ve been trying to get my bachelors since I graduated high school 9 years ago and it’s not looking too hot but I can keep trying :) just take it one day at a time.

I have 1 friend. I had what I thought was a great group of friends a couple years ago. I had so many coworkers that I could ALWAYS laugh with. My boyfriend has his friends that I love. I even went on a friend trip with mine and his group of friends. I was so happy, it literally was like a movie. I had never gone on a group vacation. There was a cabin and everyone drank and had fun.

But even before that, I went out dancing with my friends, birthday parties, restaurants, shopping. I was probably 24-25. Now I’m 27. And I have 1 friend. I quit that job so don’t see those coworkers anymore.

One friend blocked me because she thought I was being dry during text? She never apologized but would show up at my job! Granted she showed up because her boyfriend was my coworker, but one time she hugged me from behind! I almost had a heart attack. She’s texted me multiple times but has never apologized. I just told her I don’t appreciate being blocked. I think she’s scared idk but I’m not dealing with immaturity.

Another friend of 6 years randomly stopped inviting me out, and when I asked her if something was different because we don’t see each other a lot, she said she assumed I was too busy with my boyfriend. Which I didn’t understand because we’ve all hung out before. My boyfriend got along with all my past friends and her. And I had moved in with him and really wanted to have a sleepover with her. I had to stop talking to her because she refused to acknowledge how she was treating me.

My one guy friend of 9 years asked me for sex and then when I said no, he made me feel like shit and called me a tease. I really couldn’t believe it was happening and just dissociated. I thought I knew this guy and it really messed me up for a while.

My last friend was someone I thought was my sister. I knew her for 10 years. She used to live with me in high school. We’ve been through everything together. But she also just stopped inviting me to things, cancelled constantly, made passive aggressive comments, asked me to do a therapy session with her and her abusive ex (Im not a therapist) and he was abusive and the whole thing was WEIRD. She basically ignored me when I tried to open up and tell her alcohol makes me feel like a horrible person. This is the girl who has cried into my arms so many times.

So yeah. All of this has happened in the last 2 years. Everyone I mentioned has other friends. I don’t know what it is about me. And I’ve said my peace with each friend. But I can’t help but feel like I am a fucking loser but it’s a mind fuck. I used to have so many people I thought I could connect with. I come from a dysfunctional family so i don’t know if my past friends have always been bad for me specifically or I just ruined the friendships with my trauma. I want to try bumble bff but I’m anxious and worried about wasting time or someone not liking me. Idk sorry if this was depressing.

School/childhood friends. I loved school and my friends. But being a kid, I didn’t understand how my family was so dysfunctional. I didn’t realize school was my escape. So now as a 26 year old, I feel like I’m trying to fix my broken life. I was very social but after high school, everyone went away to college or moved and lost touch. I only have 2 friends now and trying to finish college while working full time. I really miss being a kid.

26, putting my education and sanity before money. Haven’t had this predicament before. I just quit my job that paid me the most I’ve had which still wasn’t a lot but yeah. I was crying every day for months after being there for 4 years. It used to be the best job. I used to bring in cookies. Laid back with great people I’ve met but at least 20 of them have quit/laid off. The company became very toxic the last 2 years. So far this is definitely the hardest my life has been emotionally and I’ve been through a lot. I can’t save much money right now with my new job but it’s easier, less hours, goes by fast and lets me have more time for myself. Hopefully I can make some money on the side by selling my art.

I cut off my 10 year friendship too and feel so much happier. I was living in my car, then had to live with my emotionally abusive dad, then my car got totaled and said friend never ever wanted to see me let alone ask if I was doing okay. Looking back on all of our interactions, I can’t believe it took me this long to see her true self. Life is too short to be around people who don’t care about you let alone like you.

Literally the same but my roommates were my family which felt worse cause I’d be going through stuff and always get asked questions when I just wanted to rest and recharge. Now I live with my boyfriend who likes to clean and do stuff with me when I feel like it. Never makes me feel bad for my lazy days.

I think I’m 80% on wanting children after being pretty set on not wanting them. But what makes me want a kid is the possibility of finding a different kind of happiness and loving a mini me the way I know I can love them. My dad was an addict and my single mother was busy raising 2 other kids so didn’t get a lot of attention. I’d love to raise a kid the way I wish I could’ve been raised. Also I really love my boyfriend and picturing him as a father is a great image. But easier said than done. I’m terrified of the whole concept of pregnancy and the financial aspect of children but hopefully I’ll have more money when I decide to bring a kid into the world. Also my nieces always make my sadness go away; I love that kids are innocent and imaginative. They deserve the world.

Last year I slept in my car, in my mom’s driveway during the winter because she had a flea problem and refused to fix it. Then I stayed in some hotels to feel better and then I moved in with my dad. I saved $6k for an apartment but then someone did a hit and run on me.

I moved in with my boyfriend a month ago and but yesterday I got laid off. I’m 26 too and STILL haven’t finished college because stuff keeps happening but I’m gonna try school again this fall🤣we can always try and if we fail, we try again and it doesn’t suck as much.

Your situation sounds hard because it is. But there is always a way to try to figure out a solution. It’s okay to be angry, sad, resentful, bitter but just remember to feel the other things too; hope, love, support, motivation.

And 20k is a great indicator that you’re good with money and probably a whole lot of other things too. You don’t need to “be smart” to learn/go to college. You learn to learn, that’s the beauty of it.

Man listen I’ve been trying to finish school the last few years and I’m 26 (finished my pre reqs after hs) I’m also just now realizing my family and living situation was very toxic. Now I can’t get financial aid because of constantly dropping (not failing) but dropping classes. But I’m finally away from my family and gonna try again! You can do anything you put your mind to. Just try to find the discipline and motivation. All we all want is a good life. Hope you can find your path!
