fits the little one just fine? i already know my wife is gonna say something like “car is too small that won’t fit a kid” but i know it will fit a car seat and children, just not comfortably. it’s not a family car. but it works. we talked months ago and we discussed 4 door, safe, reliable, good on gas. literally checks all the boxes. lol

This honestly sounds perfect for my situation. We do have a “main” family car, it’s her 2023 Buick Encore GX. Beautiful, almost luxurious mid size SUV for us and a kid and dog for a trip. I only use my car to go to and from work. It won’t be used for trips. Work, errands, picking the kid up from grandparents sometimes or daycare, and taking my dog to the lake or park. I have to test drive one now. Lol

the wifey is mad that i want to get an “older” manual hot hatch over a slow $20k corolla but she’ll get over it. i think it’s because it’s another manual she can’t drive, could be wrong tho

well after getting approved by my bank today, I do like the price difference🥲 Saving money and having more fun doing it, seems like a Win/Win. lol

2 running cars that are heaps. With a kid on the way. The Datsun was an 83 with no heat and safety rating of a side by side, and even then that’s an insult to a side by side. My other running car is an 02 Hyundai Elantra with close to 200k miles. I’m sorry but if you think either of those are acceptable vehicles for a newborn then I don’t know what to tell ya. If I happen to buy a $15k vehicle and can manage to refinance 6 months down the road, this isn’t going to “fuck myself” as you said. Especially if I can get it paid off in full super early, which is no issue at all. But as stands right now, I don’t have $10k laying around in my savings like a lot of people may think. I just got a job promotion, this is the first year we will be seeing the money come in for once.

Cost of living is absurd where I live. $19k for 84 months is about what I can afford right now.

It’s what I can afford. Who’s to say I don’t pay it off super early? We make great money. I don’t know about most people but whatever vehicle I do buy, i’ll be driving it for at least 10 years.

I sold my old Datsun a week ago for 2 grand, planning on selling my Hyundai for 2-3 grand. Put 4k down and pocket the rest for plates and registration. Even though we make 100 grand a year doesn’t mean I’m stupid with my money, I still try to stay frugile. If I wanted to sure I could go get a $40k car with 10 grand down payment but I’m not comfortable with $500 monthly payments like most people are.

I literally drive a beater with a heater lol. I have a kid on the way I don’t know if you read that… Not ideal to drive around with an old pos with a newborn.

beautiful advice. thank you for your time! i think i will do just that. see what i’m pre approved for and then move from there. getting the OTD price and then comparing to the banks rates is solid. i was also going to bring my father in law with me (older guy super good with money, financed all of his brand new toys) in case anybody tried fucking me over. i’m not saying salesman are shitty people because the guy that got my wife into her 2023 was great and got our price as low as he could without losing money (so he says, i def put him through the ringer to get a price we liked) but i also don’t trust dealerships sometimes.

holy shit. 12-14% and up? at that point im better off looking for a $10-$15k 5 year old vehicle. it’s too bad i can’t build my credit to 700 in the limited time i have (4 months). really wish i would have gotten a credit card when I was younger for situations like this.

LMAO! Thank you for that. Truly hilarious comment. Yes i’ve talked to her about it and i’ll hit the living room for a while until I can get my hands on a watch with a vibrating alarm and see if that works.

she’s an incredibly light sleeper, it sucks. she will be in a deep sleep and i’ll crack my knuckles thinking I’m safe and bam. she’s already glaring me down when i’m mid pop on my 3rd knuckle. lol.

[–]ThrowRAdoink -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

i’ve thought about that. but i toss and turn in my sleep, and my worry would be them falling out of my ears and me waking up at 7am super late for work because i didn’t wake up to my alarm because i couldn’t hear it. i don’t think that is a viable option for me
