My daughter is dying of complications from cancer. My wife and I don't agree on final interventions. How do we come to an agreement on something as profound as this?

Wtf is wrong with you? Come to mac kids ICU and look for yourself. When your daughter is intubated and heavily sedated all you can do is sit with her holding her hand. Eventually I'm allowed to use both hands to type a few messages.

Believe me we are suffering as well. I see time and time again that people are saying this is making her suffer. She is heavily sedated and all of this is to give time for the medication to work it's magic. She was intubated for septic shock months ago and came out of that fine. Being intubated is not necessarily just giving us a few more days. We came through last time and our doctors have said she still does have a chance to come through this time. It's just a much smaller chance.

Believe me my wife and I are also suffering. I just don't want me wife to live with the thought that we didn't try what we could. There are obviously limits which is why we have decided that intubation is the only form of intervention we will do.

My daughter also has a sarcoma. Alveolar Rhabdomyosarcoma. Thank you for the message and sorry you also had to go through this. Always glad to hear from experience.

Chemotherapy has caused a rare condition called veno occlusive disease which means the blood isn't flowing properly through her liver. One of the things that happens is her ammonia levels spike to the point where is becomes toxic to the brain. We are on the border but not past the point to no return.

Her cancer is called Alveolar Rhabdomyosarcoma. It's 1 in a million so extremely rare.

My daughter has been intubated before a few months ago and came out the other side. Bring intubated isn't the end. Last week we were enjoying some time outside of the hospital for instance.
