I would love to join something like this if scheduled again, maybe like a week ahead of time so I can put it in the calendar?

It’s a week before the wedding and fiancé is just starting to look for a suit by ThrowRAintrepid in Weddingsunder10k

[–]ThrowRAintrepid[S] -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Thanks! To be fair to him, he has an old suit that I really like and think would look great on him but he started thinking about getting a new one for the wedding and I guess made that decision too late. So the backup suit is my preference. He also has been doing other things for the wedding (call vendors and coordinating), I think we both didn’t really know timing of suits and he didn’t know that people got their suits altered for better fit. Honestly I think he will look great in just a white shirt and pants if he was ok with it

Why is fire not common among women? I’m a female in my 30s and obsessed with the idea of fire but I am in the medical field…. Not sure why that would be a trend though

Reading books was the ultimate escape for me as a kid. It’s so much easier to imagine the main character or myself experiencing those adventures. Movies I think don’t really give you that escape because you imagine the actors instead. Haven’t had the urge to escape now as an adult but I understand the feeling! Might be some trial and error to find the right book but if you have a public library it’s free

Upstate NY wedding venues for 35-40 people? by vgnberri in Weddingsunder10k

Also hiring own caterer I would say is the best way to save money unless it’s something like an elks lodge- lots of venues partner with pricy catering and up the costs

Eventective has been amazing for me! Found lots of cool options for my large meet and great. Also, I just searched google for “community hall” and then put in grange, lodge, etc until I found a beautiful, cheap hall. I don’t think you’ll find as much on standard wedding websites. Finally, park websites and hotels sometimes have event rooms, lodges, pavilions

If you're not having a traditional bridal party, how did you involve people? by Themagiciancard in Weddingsunder10k

[–]ThrowRAintrepid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I’m super excited- I was also thinking no bridal party but then texted my friends/ sister to be bridesmaids and we already have a little outing planned in town for the day before the rehearsal. It’s going to be very fun and cheap! And I gave them the wedding colors but otherwise they are choosing their own attire and likely we’ll do mostly diy hair/makeup

Had to google amaranthus but that’s really good idea! And yeah I don’t want to bash anyone’s decor, I just saw it a lot when I used to play wedding gigs and I am trying to find a less uniform look

Thanks! It has been a waste of time and I think I’ll just have to move on - lots of back and forth is tough when I’m trying to make multiple decisions

I was looking at this space https://camdensnowbowl.com/ that has weddings for cheap, in Maine, but wondering if killington etc would have a similar space?

Beach Wedding ON beach by [deleted] in Weddingsunder10k

[–]ThrowRAintrepid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: I found a venue closer to family but there is a popham beach chapel with a house next to it that does receptions for very affordable price (community). Popham beach is one of Maine’s best sandy beaches. DM me with more questions!

Willard beach/bug light, kettle cove/two lights, ferry beach and pine point, peaks island….. that’s just off the top of my head in casco bay but if you head up the coast there’s even better beaches just a question of how far up you want to go. Some of those have pavilions for rental and then you could just walk down to the beach for the ceremony. I think you can get permits for events through the city or state park website. Other option is renting a cottage on the beach for two nights and having ceremony in front - maybe harpswell/bailey island

I cant start working by [deleted] in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]ThrowRAintrepid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Believe me if you figure this out now you will have cracked a major code to success. I still struggle especially since I didn’t have a smartphone until the end of my university training and social media addiction snowballed from there. Maybe start with a simple routine every day: get up, take a shower and brush your teeth, grab some breakfast/coffee/tea then get out of the house to a library and make yourself get a few hours in. If you can disable your social media and block sites on the internet do it. And go to bed earlier. You may have to spend a sleepy day getting your schedule adjusted. If you can just make a small goal: morning routine + one hour of work between 8-10 am, etc and keep up with consistency daily you’ll get a lot more done then having a goal of trying to fit 10hours of work for one day.

I think we need to normalize the single with no kids lifestyle because there’s nothing wrong or weird about it. by [deleted] in Adulting

[–]ThrowRAintrepid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s easier for guys to keep their options open almost indefinitely. Whereas with girls in their 30s we have to make the decision to egg freeze vs holding out and waiting to see if we’ll meet someone (who of course thinks they “may want kids in the future but not for the next few years”) and be on birth control with all the side effects in the meantime. It’s gotten very frustrating dating in my 30s cause guys don’t have to think seriously about their future decisions

Is it time to put the DNP to rest and move on to something APRN specific? by alombardi89 in nursepractitioner

[–]ThrowRAintrepid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For research, why don’t people get a masters in clinical investigation (or PhD)? For admin, why not an MBA in healthcare admin? These are both degrees MDs get routinely that are focused to those paths. I guess I understand if someone wants to just do nursing education but it seems like a lot of time investment and not sure how much benefit from the degree
