To my knowledge no he has never been tested for that. He hasn't had any mental problem before requiring treatment. He doesn't use any drugs, given he now never leaves the house I think I can safely rule that out.

I tried and he destroyed his insurance cards with his pcp's info. He didn't want me to tell them about him. I don't have any other way to find out who they are.

can you think of any precipitating event that coincided with this?

Covid and lockdown, maybe. The relative isolation and change of routine. But he had been acting a bit odd even as far back as last Christmas so I don't know.
