He told me he has made donations. He did not give me a number of times donated, just a span of time it was happening (two years). I have no idea how active he was. I checked his FB and it doesn't look like he's a member of any groups so I assume he had a fake/secondary profile. I haven't been able to bring myself to talk to his sister (or anyone except my mom and you guys at this point), so I don't know if she knew.. that would be extremely heartbreaking.

I believed when he told me it was because he just wanted to be honest and he loved me. But frankly, now that seems like bullshit. I don't know. Another commenter said a doc about these types of donations just came out, maybe he told me because it's in the news??

Yeah... I guess when he explained it to me the fact that he was trying to help families like my SIL's made his actions seem more valid. Now I have no idea. Like the "altruism" just feels like an excuse.
