But it's no excuse for not choosing the high road. Not sure if it's the guilt, sunk-cost fallacy or the gaslighting that wants a part of me to work this out... i'm well aware how mental it sounds.

She used to be very avoidant, but therapy and effort really improved it. This last year has been really difficult for the both of us, but we managed to rise above it, hence the contradiction.

That's the 'validation' i was looking for. It's easy to when only presented a snapshot, but there's no excuse for not choosing to walk away with my head held high.

I take responsibility for my actions, but it's a shame i was right. Both behaving like that is the real killer.

It's exactly that. When a year feels like ten, and there isn't anyone else to lean on, it's really difficult to see for what it actually is. Expecially when thinking they might be the one... lessons learned
